Tigers prospect Christie keeps British Columbia undefeated with shutout win at WHL Cup
Red Deer, Alta.- Medicine Hat Tigers prospect Cash Christie dished a 41-save shutout as British Columbia edged Alberta 2-0 in WHL Cup action.

With the match deadlocked with no scoring early in the second period, Lukasz McIsaac (Tri-City Americans / Vancouver, B.C.) broke the goose egg for British Columbia with a glove-side wrister from the point.
That was all British Columbia needed to secure the win, but Jack Morgan (Kelowna Rockets / Langley, B.C.) added some insurance by hitting the empty net with three minutes remaining. Eddy Spytz (Everett Silvertips / Victoria, B.C.) and Cohen Williams (Moose Jaw Warriors, Cawston, B.C.) picked up the only assists of the game.
Goaltender Cash Christie (Medicine Hat Tigers / North Vancouver, B.C.) stood tall with 41 saves, including a key stop on Alberta alternate captain Crew Martinson on a third-period Alberta powerplay to be named B.C.’s Player of the Game.
Down the ice, Drake Mooney (Regina Pats / Blackfalds, Alta.) turned aside 19 of 20 shots.
Defenceman Harry Mattern (Spokane Chiefs / Sherwood Park, Alta.) snagged Player of the Game honours for Alberta.
With the victory, British Columbia (3-0) finishes first in round robin and will face Manitoba (0-3) in Saturday’s 4:00 p.m. MST semifinal game.
Saskatchewan (2-1) will take on Alberta (1-2) in the Third Place vs. Second Place semifinal at 1:15 p.m. MST.
