Tigers add goaltender Jake Morrissey
Medicine Hat, AB — The Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday morning, just hours before the 2016-17 season kicks off in Lethbridge, announced they have picked up 1997-born goaltender Jake Morrissey. The Tigers will not give anything up for the acquisition of Morrissey as he was released from the Vancouver Giants.
Last season Morrissey split time between four different teams including the Saskatoon Blades, Vancouver Giants, and Sherwood Park Crusaders and Drayton Valley Thunder of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
In 10 appearances with the Giants last season Morrissey went 1-6-0-0 and posted a 5.07 GAA. His best season was in 2014-15 as a member of the Kelowna Rockets where he appeared in 11 games with a 8-1-1-0 record and 1.98 GAA.
Morrissey (6-foot-2, 170 pounds) joins 16-year-old Duncan McGovern on the active roster as Nick Schneider continues to attend Calgary Flames main camp which begins in the coming days.
The Tigers open the regular season at home against Lethbridge Saturday night for a 7:30pm puck drop.
