Silvertips, Winterhawks to collide in Round Two of the 2025 WHL Playoffs

Calgary, Alta. – The Everett Silvertips and Portland Winterhawks will re-ignite their rivalry in Round Two of the 2025 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien.

Everett (48-12-4-4, 104 PTS), the 2024-25 WHL Regular Season Champions, advanced to the second round on Monday, April 7, following a Game 6, double overtime thriller against the eighth-seeded, Seattle Thunderbirds.

On the same night, Portland (36-28-3-1, 76 PTS) also joined Everett on the list of Round Two combatants by defeating the Prince George Cougars for the second-straight post-season with a come-from-behind victory in Game 7.

The Silvertips and Winterhawks met on eight occasions during the regular season. Everett took the regular season set with a record of 6-1-0-1.

This also marks the third-straight year the two U.S. Division clubs will meet during the WHL Playoffs.

The Winterhawks were victorious on both occasions, defeating the Silvertips in the first-round of the 2022 WHL Playoffs and sweeping their second-round series in 2023.

Since re-joining the Silvertips roster in March, Nashville Predators prospect Austin Roest has wasted no time racking up the points for his club. The veteran forward leads all Tips skaters with nine points (4G-5A) in six post-season appearances

Silvertips rookies Shea Busch and Raiden LeGall are unfazed by their first WHL Playoffs romp. Busch, a product of North Vancouver, B.C., sits third in goals among all WHL skaters, with five, while 18-year-old LeGall and his .945 save percentage is second-best among all netminders.

LeGall also backstopped Everett to a 1-0, double overtime win on April 7, recording a League-best, 57-save shutout.

Seattle Kraken prospect Tyson Jugnauth has been Portland’s ‘play caller’ through Round One with 16 points (2G-14A) in seven games. The veteran blueliner leads all defencemen in post-season points and sits tied in first among WHL skaters – next to Medicine Hat’s Gavin McKenna.

In the crease, Czech import Ondrej Stebetak shut the door in Round One for the Winterhawks. The Jihlava, Czechia local is 4-2-1-0 in his first-ever WHL Playoffs series.

The top-seed Silvertips will open the second-round series at the Angel of the Winds Arena on Friday, April 11 at 7:05 p.m. PST.

Then, the series will head to the PDX for Game 3 on Tuesday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. PST.
