Silvertips, Thunderbirds to tangle in Round One of the 2025 WHL Playoffs
The first matchup of the 2025 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien is locked and loaded.
The top-seed Everett Silvertips will face off against the eighth-seed Seattle Thunderbirds in Round One, starting on Friday, March 28.
Everett (46-12-4-4) just clinched the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy as WHL regular season champions for the second time in franchise history.
Though the perennial contender and 10-time U.S. Division winner has never missed the WHL Playoffs, the ‘Tips are still fighting for their first WHL Championship.
Everett made the WHL Championship Series in their inaugural season, 2003-04, and most recently in 2018.
The underdog Thunderbirds are returning to the postseason after a one-year absence.
Seattle is back in the mix for the first time lifting the Ed Chynoweth Cup in 2023.
The T-Birds have been crowned WHL Champions twice (2017, 2023).
Everett owns a 6-1-0-1 record against the Thunderbirds in their 2024-25 regular-season series.
This marks the fifth time the U.S. Division foes have faced each other in the postseason, with Seattle owning an all-time record of 4-1 against Everett.
Most recently, the Silvertips eliminated the Thunderbirds in five games in the first round of the 2018 WHL Playoffs.
The series kicks off on Friday, March 28 at Angel of the Winds Arena at 7:05 p.m. PST.
Notably, all four regular-season matches between Everett and Seattle at AOTW sold out with 8,249 fans packing the building for each tilt.
Things shift to the accesso ShoWare Center for Games 3 and 4, beginning on Tuesday, April 1 at 7:05 p.m. PST.
