VP Sports & Entertainment presents: Silvertips forward Miettinen signs entry-level contract with Seattle Kraken
Seattle, Wash. – Everett Silvertips forward Julius Miettinen has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the NHL’s Seattle Kraken. Jason Botterill, General Manager of the Kraken, made the announcement Friday afternoon.
“We’re excited to have Julius under contract,” Botterill said in a Kraken media release. “He’s a strong, two-way forward with size and plenty of international experience. We look forward to his continued development after two strong seasons playing in the Pacific Northwest with Everett.”
The 19-year-old Miettinen, who hails from Helsinki, Finland, is in his third season with the Silvertips. Through two games to start the 2025-26 WHL campaign, the 6-foot-4, 207-pound forward has already collected four points (2G-2A).
Selected by the Kraken in the second round (40th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft, Miettinen has made an impact in each of his two previous WHL seasons.
Bursting onto the scene in 2023-24, Miettinen registered 67 points (31G-36A) in 66 games. An injury-shortened 2024-25 season saw the Finnish forward record another point-per-game campaign, with 39 points (11G-28A) in 36 games.
Miettinen was originally selected by the Silvertips in the first round (30th overall) of the 2023 CHL Import Draft.
He has been a fixture for Finland on the international stage, earning a silver medal at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he posted two points (1G-1A) in seven games.
