Seattle Thunderbirds sign Czech centre Matej Pekar
Kent, Wash. – The Seattle Thunderbirds have announced the signing of Czech center Matej Pekar to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Pekar was drafted by the Thunderbirds 11th overall in the 2024 CHL Import Draft.
“We are extremely excited to add a player of Matej’s caliber to our already exciting young roster,” said General Manager Bil La Forge. “He has shown his offensive ability at international events against his peer group.”
The 2007 center appeared in 25 games for Ambri-Piotta U17, scoring 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 total points. Pekar also suited up for Czechia U17 team. Playing 27 games and tallying 21 goals and 24 assists for 45 points.

Pekar will make his T-Birds debut tomorrow night at 7pm vs the Prince George Cougars at the Accesso ShoWare Center.
