Ron Robison appointed as WHL Commissioner
Calgary, Alta. – The Western Hockey League Chairman of the Board, Bruce Hamilton, announced today that the Board of Governors of the WHL have unanimously approved the appointment of Ron Robison as WHL Commissioner.
Mr. Hamilton noted, “After a close-run competition, we were very pleased to select and reach an agreement with Mr. Robison. Ron brings with him qualities that we feel will help the league and its member teams to grow and develop”.
Mr. Robison joins the WHL after serving three years as the President of his own sports marketing firm, and 12 years with the Canadian Hockey Association and it one of its predecessor organizations, Hockey Canada, where he served as a senior vice president and president respectively.
“I am very excited at this prospect and look forward to working with each of the 18 teams and building upon the progress made in recent years in the league,” indicated Mr. Robison.
Mr. Hamilton indicated that Mr. Robison’s appointment will be effective September 15, 2000.
