Rockets alternate captain Cicek announces commitment to Michigan Tech University
Kelowna, B.C.- Kelowna Rockets forward Michael Cicek has declared his commitment to Michigan Tech University.
The 20-year-old is slated to join the Huskies for the 2025-26 season upon the conclusion of his WHL eligibility.
“I’m proud to announce my commitment to play Division 1 hockey next year at Michigan Tech University,” Cicek wrote on social media. “Huge thanks to everyone who have helped me get to this point in my career, can’t wait for what the future holds!”
Cicek is enjoying a career year with the Rockets, pocketing 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points and a +6 rating through 29 games.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound centreman also has three powerplay goals, a game-winner, and recently put up a 10-game point streak in November.

He was originally drafted by the Spokane Chiefs in the sixth round of the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft and played two seasons with the Chiefs before heading North to Kelowna in an offseason swap.
Cicek, from Winnipeg, Man., has scored 25 goals and 57 assists for 82 points in 166 career games, in addition to another pair of goals and five assists in 11 postseason contests.
Kelowna (13-14-2-1) returns from the holiday break to host the rival Kamloops Blazers (12-18-3-0) at Prospera Place on Saturday, December 28 at 6:05 p.m. PST.
