Rebels alternate captain Larson commits to University of Alaska Fairbanks
Red Deer, Alta.- Red Deer Rebels alternate captain Jhett Larson has announced his commitment to the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Larson will join the Nanooks hockey program for the 2025-26 season upon the conclusion of his WHL eligibility.
“Jhett is a dynamic forward that possesses incredible character,” Nanooks head coach Erik Largen said. “He can play a 200-foot game and we are so excited to add him to our family.”
The 20-year-old has played five seasons with the Rebels and has four goals (including one shorthanded tally and a game-winner) and seven assists for 11 points in 24 matches this season.
He’s consistently tallied at least 30 points in each full campaign played and has worn the ‘A’ for the hardworking group since 2023.

Larson, a 5-foot-8, 169-pound winger from Deslisle, Sask., recently scored his milestone 50th career goal.
He’s also piled up another 75 assists for 125 points in 238 career games.
Larson and the Rebels have gone on three playoff runs together, with the veteran adding another seven goals (two of which were game-winners) and eight assists in the postseason.
