Pink in the Rink: Victoria Royals aim to set new team record for charitable donations
Victoria, B.C.- The Victoria Royals will take to the ice at the Save-On Food Memorial Arena this weekend with a lofty goal in their sights.
Not only can the B.C. Division leaders get one win closer to clinching a berth in the 2025 WHL Playoffs, they’re also aiming to set a new team record for charitable contributions.
February 14’s ‘Pink in the Rink’ game, presented by Mayfair Optometric, will raise funds for cancer research and care while the Royals and rival Vancouver Giants battle on the ice.
“This event is more than just a hockey game,” Victoria Royals Vice President of Hockey Operations Joey Poljanowski said. “It’s a night of community-led action and reflection. We want to challenge our fans to pack the rink pink, wear the colour, celebrate those affected by cancer and help us make an even bigger impact through attendance and donations.”

The Victoria Royals Foundation has pledged to donate nearly $5,000 to the Canadian Cancer Society’s Vancouver Island Lodge, which provides affordable and accessible lodging for cancer patients and their caregivers.
The Lodge also offers shuttles to the nearby B.C. Cancer Agency, supportive care programs and wig and prosthetic services.
Royals players got a first-hand look at the work the Lodge does and met with residents in a team visit on February 11, 2025.
West Coast Cranes has also pledged $5,000 to the Vancouver Island Lodge, matching the Royals Foundation donation.
The Fancy and David Foundation will contribute $5 per ticket sold to Friday’s game to the B.C. Cancer Foundation to support the CAR-T immunotherapy research project at the Deeley Research Centre in Victoria.
“Cancer is something that has touched us all, and it will take all of us to help defeat it,” Fancy and David Foundation founder David Wong said. “We’re proud to support the cause by donating $5 to the B.C. Cancer Foundation for every ticket sold to Pink in the Rink. It’s a simple way for the community to make a real impact just by showing up. Let’s pack the rink pink, cheer on the Royals to defeat the Vancouver Giants, and fight cancer the same night!”
In addition, the Royals will be auctioning off specialty game-worn jerseys.
