Hurricanes acquire Pouteau from Pats
The Lethbridge Hurricanes continue to add depth to the blueline, acquiring 18-year-old defenceman Brady Pouteau from the Regina Pats in exchange for a seventh round pick in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft on Wednesday.
Pouteau, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound product of Oak Bluff, Man., is a veteran of 61 career WHL regular season games, having tallied nine points (2G-7A) over the course of the past two seasons with the Pats.
“We wish Brady all the best with the Hurricanes,” said John Paddock, head coach and general manager of the Pats, in a team release. “He has been a solid player for our team.”
Pouteau, who turns 19 on Jan. 9, was originally a fourth round pick (79th) of the Pats at the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. He played his midget hockey with the Pembina Valley Hawks of the Manitoba Midget Hockey League.
The Hurricanes’ newest blueliner is expected to debut with his new club, wearing sweater No. 28, when Lethbridge visits the Moose Jaw Warriors.
