Giants centre Zimmer commits to Niagara University
Langley, B.C.- Vancouver Giants forward Tyson Zimmer has announced his commitment to Niagara University.
The 20-year-old will join the Purple Eagles for the 2025-26 season.
“I am super excited to announce that I’ve committed to the University of Niagara to play Division 1 hockey,” Zimmer said on his social media. “Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way!”

The 6-foot, 192-pound centreman has eight goals and 15 assists for 23 points in 31 games with the G-men this season, highlighted by a one-goal, two-assist performance in a 10-1 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders on October 19.
He was originally selected by the Brandon Wheat Kings with the sixth overall pick in the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft.
The Russell, Man. product has tallied 62 goals and 79 assists for 141 points in 244 regular season games over five seasons with Brandon, Lethbridge and Vancouver, in addition to another goal and assists in 14 postseason contests.
Vancouver (16-13-4-0) has won three straight games coming into this week’s away-and-home set against the B.C. Division rival Victoria Royals (17-11-3-3).
The Giants and Royals clash on Tuesday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. PST before moving to the lower mainland for the first 2025 edition of Wednesday Night in the Dub.
All Wednesday Night in The Dub will be available for fans as a freeview opportunity through the WHL’s YouTube channel and WHL Live on CHL TV.
Puck drops at the Langley Events Centre at 2:00 p.m. PST on January 1.
