Fourteen WHL prospects capture TELUS Cup gold
Chilliwack, B.C.- Fourteen current Western Hockey League prospects – and some projected future stars- have been crowned national champions with the Regina Pat Canadians at the 2025 TELUS Cup.
Potential 2025 WHL Prospects Draft top pick Maddox Schultz scored the overtime winner in a 3-2 win against the Levis Chevaliers in the gold medal game, clinching a record-tying fifth U18 Men’s National Club Championship for the Pat Cs.
Schultz, 15, was named the tournament MVP with nine goals and 11 assists in seven games.
Jonah Sivertson, who appeared in 14 contests with the Prince Albert Raiders this season, scored the game-opening goal before adding a pair of assists to cap off a tremendous season. Schultz and Chase Surkan (Brandon Wheat Kings) picked up the helpers.
Levis pulled ahead in the second period, but Regina Captain Logan Mehl (Kelowna Rockets) found the equalizer, with Schultz and Sivertson dishing the assists.
Schultz scored the golden goal just 28 seconds into extra time with a wrist shot from the left faceoff dot.
