Broncos join Safe Places Initiative
Swift Current, SK – The Swift Current Broncos Board of Directors passed a motion to support a new program entitled the Safe Places Initiative for the City of Swift Current. Broncos Board Chairman Liam Choo-Foo and Mayor of Swift Current Jerrod Schaefer announced the partnership in a press conference at the Credit Union I-Plex on Wednesday morning.
Safe Places Initiative is a community-wide initiative designed to support quality programming while reducing potential risks to children and youth. The Broncos are the first organization to publicly support and commit to being a part of this.
“It is our hope that all community persons and organizations that come into contact with youth will ensure that Youth Certification becomes a standard practice for many years to come,” said Jerrod Schaefer, Mayor of Swift Current.
All of the Broncos coaching staff, office staff, scouts and billets will be taking the Respect in Sport online training, undergo criminal record checks and become youth certified from the RCMP.
