2025 WHL Playoffs: Clinching Scenarios – Saturday, March 15
The field for the 2025 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien could be set on Saturday night.
Following Swift Current’s clinch on Friday, March 14, all Eastern Conference berths have been locked in and just one position remains in the Western Conference.
The Seattle Thunderbirds can clinch a playoff berth with:
- A Seattle win at Portland; and
- A Wenatchee regulation loss at Prince George; and
- A Kamloops loss of any kind versus Kelowna
Seattle (26-32-4-1) is coming off a 6-3 win against the Tri-City Americans (31-25-6-1) on Friday night that saw top 2025 NHL Draft prospect Braeden Cootes pick up a goal and an assist.
The Thunderbirds look to clinch as they visit the rival Portland Winterhawks (34-26-3-1) at 6:00 p.m. PST.
Up North, the Wenatchee Wild (23-34-7-1) look to split their road set against the B.C. Division-leading Prince George Cougars (39-20-4-2) to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Puck drop is set for 6:00 p.m. PST at the CN Centre.
Finally, the Kamloops Blazers (23-36-4-1) are on the hunt for a second-straight win as they host the 2026 Memorial Cup host Kelowna Rockets (17-41-4-2) at 6:00 p.m. PST.
