2026 WHL Playoffs: Clinching Scenarios – Saturday, February 28
February has come and gone, but the Everett Silvertips and Prince George Cougars are making sure to send the month of love off with some extra fireworks.
-
A win of any kind at Seattle, AND
- Any Penticton loss at Moose Jaw;
-
A OT/SO loss at Seattle, AND
- A Penticton regulation loss at Moose Jaw.
The Silvertips (48-7-2-1) have been the team to beat this season, as they sit at the top of the Western Hockey League standings. The U.S. Division club is on the cusp of hitting the 100-point mark and are 7-1-1-1 in their last 10 appearances.
Seattle Kraken prospect Julius Miettinen is paving the way for the offence, having recorded a five-point night on Friday evening against the Kamloops Blazers. But, the scoring doesn’t stop at the Finn. Six Silvertips have already eclipsed the 50-point plateau this season.
Tonight marks the sixth time this season that the Silvertips and Seattle Thunderbirds go head-to-head, with the Tips’ leading the season series with a 4-1-0-0 record.
Puckdrop is slated for 7:05 p.m. PT at the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent, Wash.
However, this isn’t the only clinch the Western League can see tonight.
Prince George (36-21-2-0) looks to become the second B.C. Division Club to secure their spot in the 2026 WHL Playoffs – but they’re going to need some help from some friends south of the border.

A win of any kind at Prince Albert, AND
-

-
A Seattle loss of any kind versus Everett
-

If successful, the Cougars will cement their spot in the post-season for the fifth-consecutive season.
And, with the help of Washington Capitals prospect and San Jose Sharks prospect, Terik Parascak and Joshua Ravensbergen, Northern B.C.’s finest will look to build off their first-round exit against the Portland Winterhawks, last April.
Top 2026 NHL Draft prospect Carson Carels will also look to be a contributor this post-season. The product of Cypress River, Manitoba, is having a campaign to remember, boasting a career-high of 62 points (18 G – 44A) in 50 games played.
The Cougars are set to conclude their East Division road trip tonight in HockeyTown North. Puckdrop goes down at 7:00 p.m. CT at the Art Hauser Centre.
