The 2024 NHL Draft lands in Sin City, taking place inside the Sphere from June 28-29.
The first round of the 2024 NHL Draft is scheduled to get underway on Friday evening at 5 p.m. MT. Rounds 2-7 of the 2024 NHL Draft will be carried out on Saturday morning, beginning at 9 a.m. MT.
A total of 57 WHL players were ranked by NHL Central Scouting in advance of the 2024 NHL Draft. This includes Cayden Lindstrom, Berkly Catton and Tij Iginla, who were all among the top 10 North American Skaters – READ MORE.

Cayden Lindstrom – First Round, Fourth Overall – Columbus Blue Jackets
The Columbus Blue Jackets have selected Cayden Lindstrom with the fourth overall selection at the 2024 NHL Draft. Lindstrom is the first WHL player off the board at the draft and is the first Medicine Hat Tiger taken in the first round since Cole Sillinger went 12th overall to the Columbus Blue Jackets at the 2021 NHL Draft. Through 32 regular season appearances with the Tigers this season, Lindstrom recorded 27 goals and 19 assists for 46 points. The product of Chetwynd, B.C. was also the recipient of the CHL’s Top Draft Prospect.

Tij Iginla – First Round, Sixth Overall – Utah Hockey Club
The first draft selection in Utah Hockey Club history is officially on the record, and it was Kelowna Rockets forward Tij Iginla who heard his name called. Selected sixth overall by the newest club in the NHL, Iginla became the second WHL player picked at the 2024 NHL Draft. The product of Lake Country, B.C., rose up the draft rankings following a breakout season with the Kelowna Rockets. Through 64 games played this season, the 17-year-old racked up 47 goals and 37 assists for 84 points. Iginla also won the 2023 WHL Championship with the Seattle Thunderbirds. Tij follows in the footsteps of his father, Jarome, as the second member in his household to hear their name called at the draft.

Carter Yakemchuk – First Round, Seventh Overall – Ottawa Senators
Calgary Hitmen blueliner Carter Yakemchuk is headed east having been selected seventh overall by the Ottawa Senators at the 2024 NHL Draft. Yakemchuk’s selection marks the first time since 2016 that a member of the Calgary Hitmen has been taken in the first round of the NHL Draft (Jake Bean, 13th Overall to the Carolina Hurricanes). The product of Calgary, Alta., led all WHL defencemen in goals, with 30, while setting a Hitmen record for most goals in a single season by a blueliner. Yakemchuk was the WHL defenceman selected at the draft.

Berkly Catton – First Round, Eighth Overall – Seattle Kraken
Selected eighth overall at the 2024 NHL Draft by the Seattle Kraken, Berkly Catton becomes the fourth WHL player selected in the first round at the draft in Las Vegas. Catton is the first member of the Spokane Chiefs to be selected by the Kraken. The Saskatoon, Sask., finished fourth in WHL scoring during the 2023-24 season with 116 points (54 goals–62 assists) in 68 games played. Catton joins Tri-City’s Lukas Dragicevic, Kelowna’s Caden Price, and Everett’s Kaden Hammell as the active group of Kraken prospects playing the Western League.

Terik Parascak – First Round, 17th Overall – Prince George Cougars
Terik Parascak is set to join his former linemate Zac Funk in Washington, D.C.. having been selected 17th overall by the Capitals at the 2024 NHL Draft. Parascak is the fifth WHL representative selected during the first round of the NHL’s annual draft. Dubbed ‘The Super Rookie’ across the WHL community, Parascak led all rookies in points, with 105 (43 goals–62 assists) in 68 games played. The selection marks the first time since 2010 where a member of the Cougars was taken in the first round (Brett Connolly – sixth overall to the Tampa Bay Lightning).

Charlie Elick – Second Round, 36th Overall – Columbus Blue Jackets
For the second time at the 2024 NHL Draft, the Columbus Blue Jackets have dipped into the WHL pool, selecting Brandon Wheat Kings defenceman Charlie Elick with the 36th overall selection. The pick marks the first time since 2008 that a Wheat King has been drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Through 65 games played during the 2023-24 season, Elick recorded four goals and 23 assists for 27 points. He joins Medicine Hat Tigers forward Cayden Lindstrom on the Blue Jackets 2024 draft class.

Julius Miettinen – Second Round, 40th Overall – Seattle Kraken
Everett Silvertips forward Julius Miettinen goes 40th overall to the Seattle Kraken. The Finnish import now joins teammate Kaden Hammell in the Kraken’s prospect pool. In 66 regular season games, the forward recorded 31 goals and 36 assists for 67 points, as well as four points through nine playoff appearances. Miettinen is the second WHL player to be selected by the Kraken at the 2024 NHL Draft, joining Spokane’s Berkly Catton (first round, eighth overall).

Andrew Basha – Second Round, 41st Overall – Calgary Flames
Medicine Hat Tigers forward Andrew Basha doesn’t have to migrate far when it comes to suiting up for his NHL club. A product of Calgary, currently residing in Medicine Hat, only a short drive separates the power forward from the Flames organization. Basha becomes the second Tigers player to be selected at the 2024 NHL Draft, following his teammate Cayden Lindstrom. In 63 regular season appearances, the hometown product recorded 30 goals and 55 assists for 85 points. Basha is the first WHL skater drafted by the Flames at the 2024 NHL Draft.

Harrison Brunicke – Second Round, 44th Overall – Pittsburgh Penguins
South Africa’s very own Harrison Brunicke has found a home in Pittsburgh, Penn., as the latest Penguins selection at the 2024 NHL Draft. The defenceman is the first Kamloops Blazers player selected by the Penguins since Moises Gutierrez at the 2004 NHL Draft. Through 49 games played during the 2023-24 season, Brunicke boasts 10 goals and 21 points.

Ryder Ritchie – Second Round, 45th Overall – Prince Albert Raiders
The 2023 WHL Rookie of the Year is headed to the State of Hockey, as Ryder Ritchie has been selected by the Minnesota Wild. Taken in the second round, 45th overall, Ritchie becomes the first Raider in the last 24 years to be drafted by the Wild. Ritchie now joins teammate Terrell Goldsmith as the only two NHL prospects on the Raiders roster. The 17-year-old also follows in the footsteps of his father, Byron, who spent eight seasons in the NHL. In 108 career games in the WHL, the Wild prospect owns 99 points (39 goals–60 assists).

Tanner Howe – Second Round, 46th Overall – Pittsburgh Penguins
Regina Pats captain Tanner Howe heard his name called in the second round of the 2024 NHL Draft. Plucked by the Pittsburgh Penguins, 46th overall, Howe joins his childhood friend Brayden Yager in the club’s system. He is the first Pats player to be selected at an NHL Draft since his teammate Connor Bedard was taken first overall at the 2023 NHL Draft. Howe’s selection came just two picks after fellow WHL representative, Harrison Brunicke, was also selected by the Penguins. In 207 career WHL games, Howe owns 233 points (92 goals–141 assists).

Evan Gardner – Second Round, 60th Overall – Columbus Blue Jackets
Saskatoon Blades netminder Evan Gardner is the first WHL goaltender off the board, having been selected in the second round (60th overall) by the Columbus Blue Jackets at the 2024 NHL Draft. The pick makes Gardner the first Blades player to be taken by Columbus at an NHL Draft. However, Gardner was not the first WHL player selected by the Blue Jackets at this year’s draft in Las Vegas – joining Medicine Hat’s Cayden Lindstrom (fourth overall) and Brandon’s Charlie Elick (36th overall). The 18-year-old finished the 2023-24 WHL Regular Season leading all netminders in goals against average (1.91) and save percentage (92.7 per cent).

Tarin Smith – Third Round, 79th Overall – Anaheim Ducks
Selected in the third round, defenceman Tarin Smith is the second Everett Silvertips player to be selected at the 2024 NHL Draft. He follows behind teammate Julius Miettinen, who was selected in the second round, 40th overall by the Seattle Kraken. Smith is the first Silvertip to join the Anaheim Ducks ranks since Olen Zellweger was selected in the second round of the 2021 NHL Draft. In his 67 regular season appearances with the Tips this year, Smith recorded eight goals and 44 points.

Ondrej Becher – Third Round, 80th Overall – Detroit Red Wings
Czech import Ondrej Becher finds himself headed to Motor City following his third-round selection by the Detroit Red Wings. At 20 years old, this marked the third time Becher entered the NHL Draft pool – and the first time being selected. Posting 96 points (32 goals–64 assists) in 63 regular season appearances with the Prince George Cougars, Becher flew up the NHL Draft rankings, developing into a must-have prospect. The forward is the Cougars’ second selection at the draft, as teammate Terik Parascak was selected in the first round on Friday evening.

Carson Wetsch – Third Round, 82nd Overall – San Jose Sharks
North Vancouver’s Carson Wetsch is a soon-to-be Bay Area resident, having been selected in the third round by the San Jose Sharks. Wetsch becomes the second Calgary Hitmen player to hear their name called at the 2024 NHL Draft, following Carter Yakemchuk’s first-round selection on Friday night. This is the sixth-straight season where the Sharks organization has snatched up a WHL talent but only the first time selecting a member of the Hitmen. In 67 appearances during the 2023-24 regular season, Wetsch collected 25 goals and 25 assists for 50 points.

Miguel Marques – Third Round, 87th Overall – Nashville Predators
Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Miguel Marques is the newest member of the Nashville Predators following his third-round selection at the 2024 NHL Draft in Las Vegas. After leading the Hurricanes in points during the regular season, scoring 74 points (28 goals–46 assists) in 67 games, Marques headed to Las Vegas on a high note. Marques is the first Hurricanes player to be selected by the Predators at the NHL Draft. He is also the first Lethbridge representative to go in the top three rounds since WHL alumnus Dylan Cozens did so at the 2019 NHL Draft.

Hiroki Gojsic – Third Round, 94th Overall – Nashville Predators
With the 94th overall pick at the 2024 NHL Draft, the Nashville Predators went back to the Western League, taking Hiroki Gojsic with their fifth pick of the night. Joining Lethbridge’s Miguel Marques, Gojsic is the fifth WHL player taken in the third round of the draft. He is also the second Kelowna Rockets member to become an NHL Prospect at the 2024 Draft, behind Utah Hockey Club selection Tij Iginla. In 68 career appearances in the Western League, the Rockets rookie boasts 21 goals and 29 assists for 50 points.

Adam Jecho – Third Round, 95th Overall – St. Louis Blues
Adam Jecho is the first member of the Edmonton Oil Kings to be scooped up at the 2024 NHL Draft. Going 95th overall to the St. Louis Blues, the product of Zlin, Czechia is just the second Oil King in the last three years to be taken at the draft. Through 54 games this season, Jecho collected 47 points (23 goals–24 assists) to finish fifth in Oil Kings scoring.

Ollie Josephson – Fourth Round, 105th Overall – Seattle Kraken
Red Deer Rebels forward Ollie Josephson has found a new home on the West Coast after being taken by the Seattle Kraken at the 2024 NHL Draft. Selected in the fourth round, 105th overall, Josephson is the first Rebels representative to be taken at this year’s draft. The product of Victoria, B.C. is also the first Rebel to be chosen by the Kraken franchise at the draft. Josephson joins fellow WHL talent Berkly Catton (eighth overall) and Julius Miettinen (40th overall) on the Kraken’s 2024 draft pool.

Tomas Mrsic – Fourth Round, 113th Overall – St. Louis Blues
For the third time at the 2024 NHL Draft, a member of the Medicine Hat Tigers has heard their name called. Following the selections of Cayden Lindstrom (fourth overall, Columbus) and Andrew Basha (41st overall, Calgary), it’s now Tomas Mrsic’s turn in the spotlight. The product of Surrey, B.C. is the newest member of the St. Louis Blues following their fourth-round pick. Recording a career-high of 23 goals, 39 assists and 62 points, Mrsic is the first Tiger taken by the Blues since Brett Scheffelmaier was selected at the 2001 NHL Draft.

Tyler Thorpe – Fifth Round, 130th Overall – Montreal Canadiens
Tyler Thorpe celebrated the start of the fifth round by hearing his name announced by the Montreal Canadiens. The 2024 NHL Draft was the second round Thorpe has been eligible. The 18-year-old power forward collected 23 goals, and 21 assists for 44 points with the Vancouver Giants this season. He is the first Giant since Brendan Gallagher to be selected by the Habs.

Colton Roberts – Fifth Round, 131st Overall – San Jose Sharks
In typical teammate fashion, Colton Roberts was selected just one pick after Tyler Thorpe. Taken in the fifth round by the San Jose Sharks, Roberts became the first Giant since Tyson Sexsmith in the 2007 NHL Draft to be selected by the Sharks organization. He is also the second WHL talent to head to the Bay Area, following Carson Wetsch’s selection in the third round. In 129 career games with the Giants, Roberts has posted 10 goals, 29 assists, and 39 points.

Max Graham – Fifth Round, 139th Overall – New Jersey Devils
The New Jersey Devils had their sights trained on the Okanagan region for their fifth-round pick, selecting Kelowna’s Max Graham. Graham is the third Rocket player to be taken in this season’s draft, as he follows Utah’s Tij Iginla and Nashville’s Hiroki Gojsic. The 20-year-old went undrafted through two drafts before hearing his name called by the Devils, today. In 67 games with the Rockets this season, Graham racked up 20 goals and 42 points. He was also the most penalized player in the Western League for the 2023-24 season, collecting 135 minutes in the box.

Clarke Caswell – Fifth Round, 141st Overall – Seattle Kraken
Swift Current Broncos’ forward is officially a prospect of the Seattle Kraken. Selected in the fifth round, 141st overall, Caswell is the fourth WHL player taken by the Kraken at the 2024 NHL Draft. He joins Spokane’s Berkly Catton, Calgary’s Carson Wetsch, and Red Deer’s Ollie Josephson. Caswell is also the first member of the Broncos to become a Kraken selection. In 134 regular season appearances with the Broncos, Caswell owns 35 goals and 72 assists for 107 points.

Chase Wutzke – Fifth Round, 142nd Overall – Minnesota Wild
The second WHL netminder taken at the 2024 NHL Draft comes in the form of Chase Wutzke. Selected 142nd overall by the Minnesota Wild, Wutzke joins Prince Albert Raiders forward Ryder Ritchie in the Wild’s prospect pool. The Rebels netminder backstopped his club for a large portion of the 2023-24 regular season, posting a record of 19-10-2-2. In that time, the 17-year-old also posted a goals-against average of 2.82 and a save percentage of .904.

Nate Misskey – Fifth Round, 143rd Overall – San Jose Sharks
The Victoria Royals officially have a representative at the 2024 NHL Draft, as defenceman Nate Misskey has been selected by the San Jose Sharks in the fifth round. Unafraid to sink their teeth into a talented pool of WHL players, Misskey is the third WHLer to don a Sharks uniform today. In 44 games during the 2023-24 regular season, Misskey collected seven goals and 34 points with the Royals. He also posted a +11 plus/minus rating.

Will McIsaac – Fifth Round, 145th Overall – St. Louis Blues
The St. Louis Blues have landed a defensive defenceman by selecting Will McIsaac in the fifth round of the NHL Draft. Known for his looming stature, relentless physicality, and lock-down capabilities, McIsaac collected six goals and 21 assists for 27 points this season. McIsaac is the second member of the Spokane Chiefs to be selected at the 2024 NHL Draft, following Berkly Catton’s first-round selection on Friday. This marks the third time the St. Louis Blues have gone to the WHL for a pick in this year’s draft.

Max Curran – Fifth Round, 161st Overall – Colorado Avalanche
Tri-City Americans forward Max Curran is the newest member of the Colorado Avalanche following the club’s fifth-round selection. This is the eighth selection in the fifth round that features a WHL player. In his first season with the Americans, the Czech import recorded five goals and 32 points (27 assists) in just 40 games. Curran’s selection marks the fourth straight season where a member of the Ams has been selected at the NHL Draft.

Hunter Laing – Sixth Round, 170th Overall – Calgary Flames
With their first of two sixth-round selections at the 2024 NHL Draft, the Calgary Flames went for size, selecting Prince George Cougars tall man, Hunter Laing. This marks the first time in over 20 years that the Flames have selected a member of the Cougars, having taken Blair Betts (33rd overall) at the 1998 NHL Draft. Standing at six-foot-six and 205 pounds, Laing’s bruising presence put up 11 goals and 14 assists in 66 appearances with the Cougars, this season.

Eric Jamieson – Sixth Round, 177th Overall – Calgary Flames
For the third time at the 2024 NHL Draft, the Calgary Flames have gone the Western League route by selecting Everett Silvertips defenceman Eric Jamieson. A hometown product of Calgary, Alta., Jamieson joins Andrew Basha and Hunter Laing as a part of Calgary’s 2024 prospect pool. Jamieson is also the third member of the Silvertips to get drafted this weekend – along with Kraken prospect Julius Miettinen and Ducks prospect Tarin Smith. Since 2002, the Flames have selected at least one player hailing from the WHL.

Parker Alcos – Sixth Round, 189th Overall – Vancouver Canucks
Edmonton Oil Kings defenceman Parker Alcos heard his name called in the sixth round of the 2024 NHL Draft by the Vancouver Canucks. Grabbed in the sixth round, 189th overall, Alcos becomes the first Oil King in history to be selected in the draft by the Canucks. However, he was the second Oil King drafted this weekend. He now joins fellow draftee, Adam Jecho. In 67 appearances with the Oil Kings this season, Alcos has collected one goal and 14 assists.

Hunter St. Martin – Sixth Round, 193rd Overall – Florida Panthers
It was a weekend filled with celebration for the Medicine Hat Tigers, as forward Hunter St. Martin becomes the fourth Tiger taken at the 2024 NHL Draft. Harrison Meneghin – Seventh Round, 206th Overall – Tampa Bay Lightning
Lethbridge Hurricanes netminder Harrison Meneghin is a soon-to-be Floridian after being selected in the seventh round by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Meneghin’s selection marks the third WHL goaltender selected at the 2024 NHL Draft – joining Saskatoon’s Evan Gardner (Columbus) and Red Deer’s Chase Wutzke (Minnesota). The Hurricanes now boast two selections at this year’s draft, as Miguel Marques was selected by the Nashville Predators in the third round. Meneghin was the Central Division finalist for the WHL’s 2024 Goaltender of the Year award.

Nathan Mayes – Seventh Round, 225th Overall – Toronto Maple Leafs
The 2024 NHL Draft concluded on Saturday afternoon, as Spokane’s Nathan Mayes was selected with the final pick of the day. The latest member of the Toronto Maple Leafs is the first Chiefs player since Lukas Kral (2018 NHL Draft) to hear his name called by the Canadian franchise. Through 74 career WHL games with the Chiefs, Mayes has one goal and 16 assists. The 18-year-old was the WHL’s 34th and final selection at the NHL Draft in Las Vegas.
