Owen Chapman signs WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with Winterhawks
Portland, Ore. – The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club is proud to announce the signing of forward Owen Chapman to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
The Winterhawks selected Chapman in the third round (#59 overall) of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft. He becomes the third player from the team’s 2023 draft class to sign with Portland, joining first-round selection Griffin Darby and second-rounder Jordan Duguay.
Skating alongside Duguay with the Northern Alberta Xtreme U15 Prep team last season, Chapman recorded 11 goals, 10 assists and 21 points in 29 regular-season games to help his team earn the top seed heading into playoffs. Chapman and NAX went on to capture the 2023 CSSHL U15 Prep Championship last spring, with the 5-foot-9, 150-pound forward notching five points (1G, 4A) in five playoff contests.
