- Forward Nate Danielson enters the week with goals in two of his last three games, having scored the opening goal in Prince George and Portland’s lone goal in Game 2 of the WHL Championship. The Detroit Red Wings first-rounder leads the team with 22 points in 16 games.
- Forward Diego Buttazzoni netted the Hawks’ first goal of the WHL Championship, ripping a wrister from the right circle late in the second to kick off Portland’s Game 1 comeback. The 17-year-old has nine points in 16 playoff games.
- Forward Gabe Klassen potted a tying tally in the third period of Game 1 of the WHL Championship, bringing the Hawks back into the contest after trailing by two. The captain has three goals in his last five games and ranks second with 15 points.
- Goaltender Jan Špunar earned WHL Goaltender of the Week honors following a standout showing in Portland’s decisive Game 6 victory in Prince George and a pair of solid starts at home against Moose Jaw. Špunar owns a .917 sv% and 2.52 GAA with a 12-4-0 record in the playoffs.
Play of the Week:
Only one choice for play of the week – it’s Josh Davies with the double-overtime dagger in Game 6 of the Western Conference Championship! Davies’ strike in the fifth period pushed Portland to the WHL Championship and eliminated the Cougars at the CN Centre. Enjoy! ⤵️
