Hawks in the Community- November
Throughout the season, Winterhawks.com will feature monthly recaps of the organization’s efforts to connect with and support the greater Portland community, as well as a look ahead at what’s to come. As the 2024-25 season has begun, we’re proud to be a year-round staple of the Rose City and can’t wait to see you all at an upcoming event!
Winterhaven Elementary School –
The Hawks visited our friends at Winterhaven Elementary School and Born and Raised Construction on November 7th. We split the team in two groups, one did a Q&A with the kids, and the others taught the students how to play street hockey. Our team is so grateful to interact and spend time with the community. We are looking forward to continuing this partnership both on and off the ice. Thank you to our amazing Born and Raised Construction partners for hosting us.

Shop with a Hawk-
The Portland Winterhawks continued their tradition of giving back to the community with their 12th annual Shop with a Hawk event, held at our local Fred Meyer store. The heartwarming initiative paired Winterhawks players with 24 students from Chief Joseph Elementary School for a special holiday shopping experience.
Thanks to the generous fundraising efforts of the Portland Winterhawks Booster Club, which raised over $4,000 for the event, each student received a $180 Fred Meyer gift card to spend while shopping with their Winterhawks buddy.
Thank you to our partners at Sunshine Division, Fred Meyer, and the Booster Club for making this possible!
Hawks Fight Hunger Night presented by Fred Meyer and Oregon Food Bank –
This year’s Hawks Fight Hunger game was on Friday, November 15 at 7:00 p.m. versus the Red Deer Rebels.
Thanks to the generous donations of Hawks fans, we were able to provide over 13,000 meals at this Hawks Fight Hunger game! They delivered about 1,924 pounds of food at the Winterhawks game and contributed over 18,000 meals in monetary donations during the month of November.
Thank you for providing for our community!
Thank you to our partners at Fred Meyer and Oregon Food Bank for making this night possible!

Toy Drive Night presented by Les Schwab and FOX 12 Oregon –
FOX 12 Oregon, Les Schwab Tire Centers and the Winterhawks teamed up again to help spread some cheer to Portland-area youth this holiday season. Thanks to our fans support, we surpassed last year’s goal and donated a little over 3,000 toys!

Hometown Heroes Night-
The Portland Winterhawks hosted our annual Hometown Heroes Night on November 29th as a way to celebrate local heroes throughout our community. We highlighted teachers, healthcare workers, Military members, and much more!
Thank you to all of our heroes for everything you do!
Boys and Girls Club- Lionel Clegg Club
We visited our friends at the Lionel Clegg Boys and Girls Club and brought our hockey gear with us! The team taught the kids how to play hockey and connected with the youth in our surrounding Portland communities. We are forever grateful for this partnership and the impact it has on the lives of the youth, and our players!

Oak Grove Elementary School-
We took the classroom to the community as we visited the students at Oak Grove Elementary. Our players taught them how to read, write, participated in a Q&A, and played street hockey. We are excited about the relationships we have created within our community!
Thanks for having us, Oak Grove!
Les Schwab Teddy Bear Toss-
The Portland Winterhawks brought the holiday spirit to the Rose City during the most fun game of the season – our 25th annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by Les Schwab.
This year, the collected teddy bears were donated to Les Schwab charities, Portland Fire, Easterseals Oregon, the Salvation Army, Hillsboro Police Department, Rockaway Lions Club, Oregon Department of Human Services, and others!
Winterhawks fans helped donate over 16,000 teddy bears this year, all while selling out the VMC. Rose City, you are amazing!

What’s Next?
December is full of hockey and exciting theme nights. We will host our first-ever “Hawks Version” game on the 13th and throw a Holiday party on the ice on the 14th!
The Portland Winterhawks will then take a short break but will be back at home on the 27th as we face-off against the Tri-City Americans and gear up for our Toyota New Year’s Eve Game. See you there!
Happy Holidays from the Portland Winterhawks!
