Hawks forward Weiermair named as Brad Hornung Memorial Trophy nominee
Portland, Ore. – The Western Hockey League announced today that Winterhawks forward and alternate captain Alex Weiermair has been named as a Western Conference Finalist for the Brad Hornung Memorial Trophy as the league’s Most Sportsmanlike Player of the 2025-26 season.

Matias Vanhanen – Nokia, Finland – Everett Silvertips
Ryden Evers – Burnaby, B.C. – Penticton Vees
Weiermair, who recently signed his entry-level contract with the Vegas Golden Knights, played a commanding and controlled game in his final season of junior hockey. Finishing the 2025-26 regular season in fifth place of the WHL with 93 points (37 G, 56 A), Weiermair played in 66 games with just 28 penalty minutes.
The Portland standout is a fierce competitor and a dynamic player. Through his career in the WHL he has earned the respect of his teammates and opponents.
Weiermair looks to become the fourth Winterhawk to win the Brad Hornung Memorial Trophy after Dave Archibald (1987), Lonny Bohonos (1994) and Seth Jarvis (2020).
