Title Fight
On the ice, a battle between two of the WHL’s best awaits! Both teams rank second in their respective conferences on point percentage, with Portland’s .690 and Saskatoon’s .667, and both hold significant championship aspirations. Last season saw Portland take two points at SaskTel Centre, but Saskatoon advanced further in the WHL Playoffs before being swept in the Eastern Conference Final.
Now, each team remains stacked with impressive depth and some high-end talent, setting the stage for quite the show tonight. Portland earned a #3 ranking in the WHL power rankings on Friday, while Saskatoon was just behind at #5.

Add in some extra motivation for the Winterhawks to erase the taste of last night’s defeat in Everett and the potential of Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten making his Saskatoon debut after being acquired from Kamloops yesterday, and there’s more than enough reason to grab the popcorn.
Z Hits 100
Josh Zakreski is in line for a milestone moment against his hometown club tonight! The Saskatoon native sits at 99 games played in his WHL career, skating in games across three different seasons. Zakreski boasts 19 goals, 26 assists and 45 points in the WHL, and has started his first NHL Draft-eligible campaign with some heat, sitting just eight points shy of last season’s point total in just 21 games.
Congrats on the century mark, Z!
