Cash Brebant signs WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement with Portland
Portland, Ore.- The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club is proud to announce the signing of forward Cash Brebant to a WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement. Brebant was selected by the Winterhawks in the fifth round (109th overall) of the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft. He becomes the third player from the 2009-born class to sign with Portland.
“Cash had a very good year with OHA Edmonton last season, and we were excited to get him in the fifth round,” said President and General Manager. “Now, he’ll join Caden Leibel and our young group of talented 09 forwards.”
Brebant, 15, skated with the OHA Edmonton U15 Prep club, tallying 13 goals and 18 assists for 31 points during the 2023-24 campaign. He finished the year ranked third on the team in both goals and points.
The 5-foot-8, 124-pound forward also participated in the 2024 Alberta Cup, posting six points (2G, 4A) in 5 games and helping his team to a championship. In 2022-23, Brebant averaged two points per game for a total of 64 points (31G, 33A) in 32 games with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons U15 AA of the NAHL.
The Fort McMurray, Alta. native made his Neely Cup Training debut this past month. He registered one goal for Team Ponich and finished third at the 2024 event.
