Quick start for ICE in Game 1 vs Warriors
Owen Pederson scored the game’s opening goal 18 seconds into the first period as the Winnipeg ICE beat the Moose Jaw Warriors 6-1 to open their WHL Eastern Conference Semi Final.
Pederson’s second of the night, Jack Finley, Jakin Smallwood, Matthew Savoie and Mikey Milne also scored for the ICE who outshot the Warriors 35-19. Finley led all players in the game with five shots.
Moose Jaw’s Brayden Yager broke the shutout bid of Daniel Hauser with 2:12 remaining in the third period.
Carl Tetachuk allowed five goals on 29 shots through 40 minutes. Jackson Unger stopped 5 of 6 in the third period.
Winnipeg went 2/4 on the power play while the Warriors were 0/4.
