ICE fail to capitalize in Moose Jaw
A shorthanded goal by Moose Jaw Warriors forward Calder Anderson at 9:42 of the third period proved to be the deciding goal Tuesday night as the Warriors edged the Winnipeg ICE 3-2.
The victory cuts Winnipeg’s Eastern Conference Semi Final series lead to 2 games to 1. Game 4 is Wednesday at Mosaic Place.
Jagger Firkus and Eric Alarie also scored for the hosts.
Zach Benson in the first period on the power play and a late third period goal by Jack Finley were the ICE goals. Finley’s 5th of the playoffs extended his goal scoring streak to four consecutive games.
Jackson Unger made 38 saves in goal for the Warriors in his first WHL playoff start.
Daniel Hauser stopped 28 of 31 for Winnipeg.
After scoring on their first opportunity, the ICE failed to score on their five remaining power plays which included a five minute major and a four minute double minor.
Moose Jaw was 0/2 on the man advantage.
The loss for the ICE confirms Game 5 will be played Friday night at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena at 7:00.
