Wild Announce Reassignment of Geekie From NHL’s Arizona Coyotes
WENATCHEE, Wash. – The Wenatchee Wild of the Western Hockey League (WHL) have announced the reassignment of forward Conor Geekie to Wenatchee from the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Coyotes previously announced Geekie’s return to the Wild among a series of roster moves Monday.
Selected 11th overall by Arizona in the 2022 NHL Draft, Geekie appeared in two preseason games for the Coyotes, scoring a goal and an assist against the St. Louis Blues. He did not appear for Wenatchee during its WHL exhibition schedule. The Strathclair, Manitoba native has totaled 68 goals and 102 assists during his WHL career, making 160 appearances for the Winnipeg ICE over the past four seasons.
Geekie’s return to Wenatchee from Arizona’s training camp leaves two Wild players in NHL camps, with forwards Zach Benson and Matthew Savoie currently on the Buffalo Sabres’ preseason roster.
A three-game road weekend awaits the Wild this week, with the first two games set for Friday and Saturday against the Prince George Cougars. Friday’s game at CN Centre gets underway at 7 p.m., followed by a 6 p.m. puck drop Saturday. The Kamloops Blazers host Wenatchee Sunday afternoon, with live coverage of all three games on Newsradio 560 KPQ and WHL Live.
The return to home ice sees the Vancouver Giants come in for the team’s Wild About Awareness Non-Profit Night on Friday, October 20, while the Brandon Wheat Kings come to Wenatchee for Healthcare Workers Night the following evening. Tickets for those games and all Wenatchee Wild home regular-season contests are on sale now at 509-888-7825, or by visiting the team office at Town Toyota Center.
