Wenatchee Wild Blanked on Black Friday by B.C. Division-Leading Prince George, 3-0
WENATCHEE, Wash. – After taking down the Vancouver Giants on Wednesday, the Wenatchee Wild had a larger target on the radar for their Black Friday showdown at Town Toyota Center. 20 nights before, the Wild had toppled the top team in the Western Hockey League’s B.C. Division in a tightly-contested affair, but this time around, it was the Prince George Cougars who sealed a 3-0 win over the Wild behind a 29-save shutout for goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen.
The Cougars capitalized once in each period, with Bauer Dumanski walking the puck to the left-wing faceoff dot and tossing a wrist shot past Tobias Tvrznik with 6:38 left in the first to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage. The league’s top power play unit notched a goal at 2:45 of the second when Terik Parascak spun the puck off of Tvrznik and in from below the goal line, giving Prince George a second-chance goal and a 2-0 advantage. The game’s final goal came on Jett Lajoie’s toss to the empty net from the faceoff circle to Ravensbergen’s right, putting the Cougars ahead by three with just 31.4 seconds to play.
Dumanski posted a goal and an assist for the only multi-point showing of the night, while Ravensbergen picked up his 13th win of the season and eighth career shutout. Tvrznik had a solid showing of his own despite the loss, making 30 saves on 32 Prince George opportunities. Each team got five looks at the power play, but the Cougars were the only team to post a goal on the man-advantage.
Luka Shcherbyna saw a five-game point streak halted, as was Dawson Seitz’s three-game run. Wenatchee saw a four-game home winning streak end, moving to 7-13-1-1 with the loss, while Prince George began a five-game road trip by running its winning streak to six, with an overall record of 17-7-0-0.
Wenatchee’s four-game homestand continues Saturday with the team’s annual Toy Drive Night against the Regina Pats, presented by Les Schwab. The team welcomes the Pats for the first time since last February, as Regina makes its every-other-year visit to the Wenatchee Valley – the club will continue collecting toys for the NCW Community Toy Drive presented by Les Schwab, and Saturday’s game is also a Kids In Free night thanks to Gesa Credit Union. The opening puck drop for Wenatchee’s Saturday night tilt against the Pats is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Tickets for Saturday’s game and all regular-season Wild home games are on sale now by phone at 509-888-7825, online here or by visiting the team office at Town Toyota Center.
