Tvrznik Turns Away 48 as Everett Sneaks Out 3-2 Decision Friday
GAME BOXSCORE
EVERETT, Wash. – Tobias Tvrznik is back, and he’s already in midseason form.
One week after returning from Colorado Avalanche training camp, Tvrznik turned away 48 Everett Silvertips shots Friday night at Angel of the Winds Arena in his 2026-27 debut – the Wild nearly grabbed another Western Hockey League standings point, but ultimately dropped a 3-2 decision to the defending Ed Chynoweth Cup champions. Wenatchee was within sight of erasing a two-goal Silvertips deficit throughout the third period, but was held scoreless over the game’s final 20 minutes.
The Silvertips took their first lead with 2:42 remaining, taking advantage of their first power play of the night with a wrist shot from Brek Liske just inside the Wild blue line. Halfway through the second period, Kalen Miles stuffed in a rebound goal to tie the game after a left-wing rush and an initial shot from Grady Wedman. Miles’s goal came on a third-chance opportunity, after Everett netminder Jayden Kraus also denied a second-chance look from Riley Brown.
With 6:16 on the second-period clock, Luke Vlooswyk gave the ‘Tips the lead they would never relinquish, walking the puck to the edge of the slot and snapping a chance past Tvrznik for a 2-1 advantage. Charlie Barnes set Henry Meier up for a one-timer with 1:46 left in the period, briefly putting Everett ahead by two.
The two-goal lead lasted all of 18 seconds – after a faceoff win in the Wild end, Wedman picked off a Silvertips pass to the left point and raced it to the other end, zipping it past Kraus to trim the lead to 3-2. The teams would battle to a scoreless draw in the third period to close out the night.
Wedman had the only multi-point game of the night, closing the evening with a goal and an assist. Kraus made 32 saves, picking up his first win in an Everett uniform. The Wild finished 1-for-2 on the penalty kill, but were not able to capitalize on their three power plays.
The Wild opened the game with impressive pace, firing off six of the night’s first seven shots. Everett would open the second period with nine in a row, and led the shot count 27-11 before Wenatchee evened up the pace over the game’s second half.
Wenatchee returns to home ice Saturday to welcome the Silvertips in a rematch on More Cowbell Night presented by Ag Supply. The opening puck drop at Town Toyota Center is scheduled for 6 p.m.
