A proud third-year member of the Western Hockey League, the Wenatchee Wild are continuing a celebrated WHL legacy that dates back to Edmonton, Alberta in 1996, continuing in Cranbrook, British Columbia and Winnipeg, Manitoba. These are the ICE alumni, who are now also members of the #WildFamily, making news in American pro hockey this week:
NHL

AHL
ZACK OSTAPCHUK (2022-23) – Played his first regular-season game for the San Jose Barracuda on Saturday, after coming to the Sharks organization at the trade deadline in March – he made the most of his official Barracuda debut, scoring the second goal in San Jose’s 7-6 win over the Bakersfield Condors. He played six games in the Calder Cup playoffs for the Barracuda, but made his only regular-season AHL appearances as a member of the Belleville Senators.
OTHER SEASON DEBUTS: Carson Lambos (Iowa Wild)
ECHL
Schedule begins Friday, October 17.
Also on Wenatchee’s alumni list are the standouts from its Junior A era (2008-2023) – these players laid the foundation for the WHL’s future success in the Wenatchee Valley. These are Wenatchee’s Junior A alumni who are making news in American pro hockey this week:
HARRISON SCOTT, 2019-20 (2 GP, 1-1-2) – Scored his first professional points this past weekend for the Texas Stars, posting an assist Friday in a 4-3 home loss to the Grand Rapids Griffins – his first official pro goal came one night later, burying his only shot on net with 8:37 to play in a 3-2 loss. Scott made the Dallas Stars’ opening-night roster, and was loaned to Texas last week ahead of the AHL club’s home-opening weekend.
BRETT CHORSKE, 2019-20 (2 GP, 0-1-1) – Helped the Charlotte Checkers take the lead with an assist in the final seconds of the first period Sunday against the Providence Bruins – the lead would be short-lived, though, with the Bruins taking a 6-3 home win.
OTHER SEASON DEBUTS: Nic Dowd (Washington Capitals), Bryan Yoon (Colorado Eagles), Sam Morton (Calgary Wranglers)
Harrison Scott and Cross Hanas each scored their first goal of the season, but the Stars ultimately fell 3-2 to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
