A proud second-year member of the Western Hockey League, the Wenatchee Wild are continuing a celebrated WHL legacy that dates back to Edmonton, Alberta in 1996, continuing in Cranbrook, British Columbia and Winnipeg, Manitoba. These are the ICE alumni, who are now also members of the #WildFamily, making news in American pro hockey this week:
NHL
SAM REINHART, 2010-15 (22 GP, 16-15-31) – Had a 13-game point streak come to an end Monday in the Florida Panthers’ 4-1 win over the Washington Capitals, but not before tallying power play goals in Saturday’s 7-4 loss to the Colorado Avalanche and Florida’s 6-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes last Tuesday. His 16 goals this season remains tied with Edmonton’s Leon Draisaitl for the NHL lead.
PEYTON KREBS, 2016-21 (20 GP, 3-4-7) – Got back into the scoring column for the Buffalo Sabres, opening the scoring with his first goal since Veterans Day in a 4-2 win at the San Jose Sharks.
BRAYDEN McNABB, 2006-11 (22 GP, 1-2-3) – Recorded his first point in five weeks by setting up Tomas Hertl for the opening goal in Saturday’s 6-2 Buffalo Sabres win at the Montreal Canadiens.
MICHAEL MILNE, 2018-22 (1 GP, 0-0-0) – Made his National Hockey League debut on November 16 against the Dallas Stars, playing eight shifts for a total of 6:34 of ice time.
AHL
MATTHEW SAVOIE, 2019-24 (16 GP, 4-6-10) – Had an assist Friday in the Bakersfield Condors’ 2-1 overtime win against the Colorado Eagles.
CALE FLEURY, 2014-18 (11 GP, 4-5-9) – Notched a power play assist Friday as part of the Coachella Valley Firebirds’ 3-2 comeback win in overtime against the San Diego Gulls.
MICHAEL MILNE, 2018-22 (12 GP, 4-5-9) – Returned to the lineup for the Iowa Wild on Friday, picking up a first-period assist in a 5-2 win at the Grand Rapids Griffins.
NOAH PHILP, 2015-17 (13 GP, 5-3-8) – Followed up a career-best four-point game last weekend with a second-period goal (set up by former Wild forward Matthew Savoie) in a 2-1 overtime victory against the San Diego Gulls.
LUKE PHILP, 2015-17 (11 GP, 2-5-7) – Notched points in two road games this past week for the Hershey Bears – his first-period goal Wednesday gave the Bears a three-goal lead in a 4-3 overtime loss at the Toronto Marlies, and his two first-period assists helped spur Hershey to a 4-3 overtime win at the Rochester Americans on Saturday.
ECHL
BRETT DAVIS, 2016-19 (13 GP, 5-5-10) – Saw a five-game point streak halted, but tallied an assist to help the Rapid City Rush charge back and erase an early 4-0 deficit in a 6-5 loss Friday against the Idaho Steelheads.
BRILEY WOOD, 2022-24 (14 GP, 2-7-9) – Earned points in two of the Utah Grizzlies’ three games this past week at the Wichita Thunder. His assist helped erase an early lead in a 5-2 loss at Wichita on Wednesday, and his second-period goal evened things up in a 4-2 loss Friday.
BOBBY RUSSELL, 2016-18 (12 GP, 1-5-6) – Posted his first multi-point game since April for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits with two assists in Saturday’s 5-4 win at the Savannah Ghost Pirates.
NOLAN ORZECK, 2017-22 (5 GP, 0-3-3) – Had two assists Saturday for the Allen Americans in a 6-4 win over the Utah Grizzlies.
EASTON ARMSTRONG, 2017-19 (15 GP, 0-5-5) – Made the most of the Orlando Solar Bears’ weeknight stop in Atlanta last Tuesday, with an assist in a 3-0 victory.
BEN ZLOTY, 2018-23 (2 GP, 0-3-3) – Returned to the ECHL after beginning the season with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, and dominated in his first two games with the Norfolk Admirals. His third-period assist Wednesday helped ice a 5-2 win over the Reading Royals, and his two assists Friday helped push Norfolk to a 4-3 win at Reading.
REECE HARSCH, 2019-20 (6 GP, 0-1-1) – Made his first appearance on the score sheet Friday for the Idaho Steelheads, with an assist in a four-goal first period as part of a 6-5 win against the Rapid City Rush.
Also on Wenatchee’s alumni list are the standouts from its Junior A era (2008-2023) – these players laid the foundation for the WHL’s future success in the Wenatchee Valley. These are Wenatchee’s Junior A alumni who are making news in American pro hockey this week:
SAM MORTON, 2016-18/2019-20 (19 GP, 3-10-13) – Picked up a third-period assist in the Calgary Wranglers’ 5-3 loss at the Tucson Roadrunners on Friday.
DEVIN COOLEY, 2016-17 (10-3-0, 1.89) – Made 16 saves last Wednesday in a 4-3 Calgary Wranglers win at the San Diego Gulls, but suffered his first loss since November 5 in Friday’s 5-3 loss at the Tucson Roadrunners, despite making 33 stops.
KYLE MAYHEW, 2016-17 (13 GP, 3-14-17) – Played in only one game last weekend for the Fort Wayne Komets, but notched a third-period assist in a 6-4 loss to the Wheeling Nailers on Saturday.
CHARLIE COMBS, 2015-17 (15 GP, 4-9-13) – Ran his point streak to six games in a busy weekend for the South Carolina Stingrays – his goal Friday put the Stingrays on the board in a 3-2 loss to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, but he would post assists in both Saturday’s 5-2 home win and Sunday’s 5-1 home loss against the Adirondack Thunder.
MARKO REIFENBERGER, 2018-19 (13 GP, 4-4-8) – Scored goals in both ends of the Norfolk Admirals’ home-and-home set against the Reading Royals, helping to highlight a late scoring outburst in a 5-2 win on Wednesday before scoring the overtime winner halfway through the extra session in a 4-3 defeat of the Royals on Friday.
JACQUES BOUQUOT, 2018-19 (16 GP, 2-6-8) – Notched a go-ahead goal for the Reading Royals in the final 65 seconds of their 4-3 overtime loss Friday against the Norfolk Admirals.
AVERY WINSLOW, 2018-19 (7 GP, 0-4-4) – Opened the Orlando Solar Bears’ weekend with an assist in a 5-2 loss to the Toledo Walleye.
P.J. FLETCHER, 2018-19 (15 GP, 0-3-3) – Teamed up with former Wild forward Easton Armstrong with an assist in last Tuesday’s 4-0 Atlanta Gladiators win over the Orlando Solar Bears.
DREW BAVARO, 2019-20 (2 GP, 1-0-1) – Returned to the Maine Mariners’ lineup and notched his first professional goal to open the scoring in last Wednesday’s 5-2 win over the Worcester Railers.
BLAKE CHRISTENSEN, 2015-16 (4 GP, 1-0-1) – Earned his first goal of the season on Saturday to give the Tahoe Knight Monsters their lone highlight in a 2-1 loss to the Kansas City Mavericks.
TROY LOGGINS, 2013-14 (7 GP, 3-1-4) – Picked up points in the last two Tahoe Knight Monsters games on the weekend against the Kansas City Mavericks, scoring the opening goal in a 6-5 overtime win on Friday, before setting up Blake Christensen’s goal Saturday in a 2-1 loss.
STANISLAV DEMIN, 2016-18 (6 GP, 0-2-2) – Picked up a first-period assist Friday in the Idaho Steelheads’ 6-3 win over the Savannah Ghost Pirates.
SETH EISELE, 2017-18 (4-1-1, 1.67) – Made 42 saves Friday at the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, but took the first loss in his pro career with the South Carolina Stingrays in a 3-2 decision.
MICHAEL BULLION, 2014-15 (3-4-0, 3.31) – Picked up his only decision of the weekend with a 5-2 Worcester Railers loss Saturday to the Trois-Rivieres Lions.
