A proud second-year member of the Western Hockey League, the Wenatchee Wild are continuing a celebrated WHL legacy that dates back to Edmonton, Alberta in 1996, continuing in Cranbrook, British Columbia and Winnipeg, Manitoba. These are the ICE alumni, who are now also members of the #WildFamily, making news in American pro hockey this week:
NHL
SAM REINHART, 2010-15 (48 GP, 28-24-52) – Scored 8:58 into the game Tuesday, setting off a three-goal scoring run in the Florida Panthers’ 5-2 win against the Boston Bruins. That goal was scored even strength, but Reinhart remains the NHL’s only player with both 10-plus power play points and five or more shorthanded points this season.
ZACH BENSON, 2020-23 (41 GP, 8-8-16) – Had a hand in both Buffalo Sabres goals in Friday’s 5-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, assisting on Owen Power’s goal and scoring one of his own with 5:14 left. The game was widely noted for Pittsburgh goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic’s two points, the only game in NHL history to see a goaltender credited with both a goal and an assist.
PEYTON KREBS, 2016-21 (42 GP, 4-12-16) – Came into Seattle and picked up a pair of assists Monday afternoon in the Buffalo Sabres’ 6-4 loss to the Seattle Kraken.
BRAYDEN McNABB, 2006-11 (47 GP, 2-6-8) – Picked up a second-period assist Monday in the Vegas Golden Knights’ 5-4 shootout loss to the St. Louis Blues.
ZACK OSTAPCHUK, 2022-23 (33 GP, 1-3-4) – Buried a wrist shot 13:16 into the second period Sunday for his first NHL goal as the Ottawa Senators defeated the New Jersey Devils, 2-1.

AHL
LUKE PHILP, 2015-17 (31 GP, 4-13-17) – Posted points in both Hershey Bears home games this past week, potting a goal with just 13 seconds left in the second period of a 4-1 win over the Belleville Senators on Friday before posting a pair of assists Sunday in a 5-4 triumph over the Rochester Americans.
CALE FLEURY, 2014-18 (25 GP, 6-10-16) – Posted an assist on the Coachella Valley Firebirds’ final go-ahead goal Thursday in a 6-3 win over the Henderson Silver Knights, and scored his team’s first goal Sunday in a 4-2 win at the Colorado Eagles.
CARSON LAMBOS, 2021-22 (33 GP, 3-4-7) – Earned his first assist in two months on Friday in a 6-3 Iowa Wild loss to the Rockford IceHogs.
BRETT DAVIS, 2016-19 (3 GP, 0-1-1) – Scored an assist Saturday in his first AHL game since May 15, 2021 as the Calgary Wranglers edged the San Diego Gulls 6-5 in overtime.
ECHL
BRILEY WOOD, 2022-24 (36 GP, 13-14-27) – Scored a late goal in Sunday’s 4-1 Utah Grizzlies win at the Bloomington Bison.
CAM HAUSINGER, 2017-19 (32 GP, 14-9-23) – Has run off points in four straight games for the Indy Fuel, with an assist last Wednesday in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Maine Mariners. He scored goals Friday and Saturday in back-to-back division home games, starting with Friday’s 4-0 home win over the Kalamazoo Wings. His goal 2:05 into overtime marked the winner for Indy Saturday in a 4-3 decision against the Cincinnati Cyclones.
BEN ZLOTY, 2018-23 (16 GP, 3-18-21) – Added four points on the weekend, highlighted by a goal and two assists in the Norfolk Admirals’ 10-3 walloping of the Maine Mariners on Saturday. His assist on Sunday got the Admirals off to a good start, but Maine would ultimately prevail, 5-3.
BEN ZLOTY, 2018-23 (19 GP, 3-19-22) – Picked up an assist Sunday for the Norfolk Admirals in a 4-3 home loss to the Trois-Rivieres Lions.
EASTON ARMSTRONG, 2022-24 (37 GP, 8-11-19) – Opened his weekend Friday with an assist for the Atlanta Gladiators in a 3-2 loss to the Orlando Solar Bears.
OWEN PEDERSON, 2018-23 (21 GP, 6-6-12) – Notched an assist last Wednesday on the overtime winner for the Maine Mariners, in a 4-3 triumph at the Indy Fuel. Saturday, he scored a goal in Maine’s 5-2 loss at the Fort Wayne Komets.
JON MARTIN, 2011-16 (19 GP, 0-6-6) – Provided an assist 2:13 into the Kalamazoo Wings’ 4-3 overtime win Saturday against the Toledo Walleye.
ISAAC JOHNSON, 2019-20 (6 GP, 3-2-5) – Picked up an assist for the Tahoe Knight Monsters Friday, in a 7-3 loss at the Iowa Heartlanders.
Also on Wenatchee’s alumni list are the standouts from its Junior A era (2008-2023) – these players laid the foundation for the WHL’s future success in the Wenatchee Valley. These are Wenatchee’s Junior A alumni who are making news in American pro hockey this week:
NIC DOWD, 2008-09 (47 GP, 10-8-18) – Had an assist in the final 90 seconds of the Washington Capitals’ 4-1 win Saturday against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
SAM MORTON, 2016-18/2019-20 (41 GP, 10-13-23) – Scored goals in back-to-back Calgary Wranglers road games this past week, tallying one halfway through the third period of Saturday’s 6-5 win at the San Diego Gulls before adding one in the second period Sunday for a 5-4 Calgary victory at the Ontario Reign.
DREW BAVARO, 2019-20 (13 GP, 0-3-3) – Helped open the scoring with an assist just 2:01 into the Providence Bruins’ 4-1 win Friday against the Bridgeport Islanders.
DEVIN COOLEY, 2016-17 (17-7-0, 1.99) – Played 40 minutes and took the loss Friday in the Calgary Wranglers’ 5-2 loss at the Colorado Eagles.
KYLE MAYHEW, 2016-17 (36 GP, 6-27-33) – Picked up a goal and an assist for the Fort Wayne Komets in a weekend’s worth of home games, including a game-tying goal halfway through Friday’s 4-2 victory against the Toledo Walleye. He assisted on another goal the next night in a 5-2 triumph against the Maine Mariners.
CHARLIE COMBS, 2015-17 (29 GP, 11-13-24) – Piled up points as part of two in-state wins for the South Carolina Stingrays over the weekend, with a goal and an assist Friday in a 5-1 demolition of the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. His goal Sunday as part of a one-goal, two-assist outing was the game-winner in a 5-2 success against the Swamp Rabbits.
DAKOTA RAABE, 2014-17 (32 GP, 8-10-18) – Posted an assist in the Iowa Heartlanders’ 7-3 rout of the Tahoe Knight Monsters on Friday.
BRYAN YOON, 2015-16 (22 GP, 4-9-13) – Registered his first point in three weeks with an assist Sunday in a 4-1 Utah Grizzlies victory at the Bloomington Bison.
BLAKE CHRISTENSEN, 2015-16 (14 GP, 3-5-8) – Picked up his third multi-point game of the year for the Kalamazoo Wings in Saturday’s 4-3 overtime win against the Toledo Walleye. He scored 2:13 into the game, posting the goal on which Jon Martin assisted, before helping on the overtime winner 81 seconds into the extra session.
P.J. FLETCHER, 2018-19 (33 GP, 2-6-8) – Contributed an assist in the first period of Friday’s 3-1 Bloomington Bison win over the Utah Grizzlies.
SETH EISELE, 2017-18 (11-6-1, 2.56) – Earned back-to-back wins for the South Carolina Stingrays this past weekend, with a dominant 39-save showing in a 5-1 win Friday against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and 22 more saves the following night to beat the Orlando Solar Bears, 5-2. His efforts earned him the ECHL’s Goaltender of the Week award for the week ending on Sunday.
MICHAEL BULLION, 2014-15 (7-10-2, 3.64) – Made 29 saves Saturday to help the Worcester Railers prevail over the Wheeling Nailers, 4-3.
