A proud second-year member of the Western Hockey League, the Wenatchee Wild are continuing a celebrated WHL legacy that dates back to Edmonton, Alberta in 1996, continuing in Cranbrook, British Columbia and Winnipeg, Manitoba. These are the ICE alumni, who are now also members of the #WildFamily, making news in American pro hockey this week:
NHL
SAM REINHART, 2010-15 (57 GP, 31-31-62) – Headed into the NHL’s 4 Nations Faceoff on a six-game point streak, and highlighted his 750th career NHL game with the eventual game-winner in the final minute of the second period as the Florida Panthers defeated the New York Islanders 6-3. He enters the break with 31 goals and 63 total points for the year – those 31 points rank third in the NHL.
ZACH BENSON, 2020-23 (48 GP, 9-9-18) – Ended his first half with an assist Saturday in the Buffalo Sabres’ final game before the break, a 6-4 loss to the Nashville Predators.
BRAYDEN McNABB, 2006-11 (56 GP, 3-9-12) – Posted his first point of February last Thursday, helping the Vegas Golden Knights’ down the New Jersey Devils 3-1. McNabb enters the break four games shy of the 800 mark for his NHL career.
CALE FLEURY, 2014-18 (7 GP, 0-1-1) – Registered his first point of the season with the Seattle Kraken on February 4, posting a second-period assist in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Detroit Red Wings. Upon returning to the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds after two weeks away, he jumped right back onto the stat sheet Wednesday with an assist in a 5-4 loss at the Henderson Silver Knights.
AHL
MATTHEW SAVOIE, 2019-24 (43 GP, 12-22-34) – Has points in five of his last seven games for the Bakersfield Condors, including a trio of assists against the Chicago Wolves this past weekend. He picked up one helper in Friday’s 4-3 overtime loss before notching two more Saturday in a 4-0 victory.
CHASE WHEATCROFT, 2021-22 (43 GP, 7-14-21) – Has points in two of his last three appearances for the Texas Stars, potting a goal 11:41 into a 6-3 win over the Rockford IceHogs on Friday before posting an assist Wednesday in a 4-2 loss at the Manitoba Moose.
NOAH PHILP, 2015-17 (30 GP, 10-8-18) – Returned to the ice for the Bakersfield Condors with a second-period goal in a 4-0 win over the Chicago Wolves Saturday.
LUKE PHILP, 2015-17 (38 GP, 4-14-18) – Earned his first point for the Hershey Bears in more than three weeks, with an assist on the Bears’ empty-net winner in Tuesday’s 5-4 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
JACK FINLEY, 2021-22 (19 GP, 4-7-11) – Has been especially busy for the Syracuse Crunch recently, with five points over three games this past week. After notching a goal Friday in Syracuse’s 4-2 loss to the Utica Comets and an assist Saturday in a 5-0 rout of the Hershey Bears, he racked up a goal and two assists in Wednesday’s 5-4 overtime loss at the Toronto Marlies. Two of those points came on back-to-back shifts, with an even-strength goal with 4:51 to play and assisting on the game-tying power play goal 90 seconds later.
DAWSON BARTEAUX, 2019-20 (34 GP, 0-9-9) – Returned to the score sheet with an assist Sunday in a 7-2 Manitoba Moose blitzing of the Iowa Wild.
CONOR GEEKIE, 2019-24 (3 GP, 1-1-2) – Made his AHL regular-season debut for the Syracuse Crunch after being reassigned for the midseason break for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and immediately made his mark with a goal and an assist. He earned his first AHL point with an assist Saturday in a 5-0 win at the Hershey Bears, before notching his first AHL goal with a tying marker on the power play with 3:21 to go Wednesday in a 5-4 overtime loss at the Toronto Marlies. Former Winnipeg ICE teammate Jack Finley picked up the primary assist.
ECHL
BRILEY WOOD, 2022-24 (46 GP, 13-20-33) – Has points in two of his last three appearances for the Utah Grizzlies, earning an assist in a 6-2 win Friday at the Tulsa Oilers before picking up another one Tuesday in a 3-2 shootout loss at the Wichita Thunder.
BEN ZLOTY, 2018-23 (28 GP, 3-24-27) – Ran up a five-game point streak at the end of January and beginning of February for the Norfolk Admirals – the stretch included assists in back-to-back games at the Adirondack Thunder, back-to-back home games against the South Carolina Stingrays, and a Tuesday road date against the Reading Royals.
CAM HAUSINGER, 2017-19 (32 GP, 14-9-23) – Had points on both sides of a 10-day gap for the Indy Fuel, with an assist February 2 in a 3-1 win at the Fort Wayne Komets and another one Wednesday in a 6-3 home loss against the Florida Everblades.
BEN ZLOTY, 2018-23 (19 GP, 3-19-22) – Picked up an assist Sunday for the Norfolk Admirals in a 4-3 home loss to the Trois-Rivieres Lions.
EASTON ARMSTRONG, 2022-24 (44 GP, 8-12-20) – Made a brief re-appearance on the stat sheet for the Atlanta Gladiators last Wednesday, with an assist in a 3-2 loss at the Worcester Railers.
BOBBY RUSSELL, 2016-18 (28 GP, 2-8-10) – Earned his first point of 2025 last Sunday, and first as a member of the Toledo Walleye, posting an assist in a 6-3 win against the Wheeling Nailers. Russell was dealt to the Walleye on January 19, after 170 games with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
REECE HARSCH, 2019-20 (31 GP, 4-5-9) – Has points in three of his last five Idaho Steelheads games, starting with an assist and a go-ahead goal February 1 in an overtime loss at the Utah Grizzlies. He followed up an assist in last Wednesday’s 5-4 overtime loss to the Rapid City Rush with another apple Saturday in a 5-2 loss.
JON MARTIN, 2011-16 (27 GP, 1-8-9) – Started the month of February with points in back-to-back games for the Kalamazoo Wings at the Iowa Heartlanders, starting with an assist February 1 in a 6-1 win. His goal the following day was the only Wings highlight in a 4-1 loss in Coralville.
GRAHAM SWARD, 2011-16 (27 GP, 1-8-9) – Has two points for the Norfolk Admirals since returning to the lineup after a seven-week absence, which included two games for the American Hockey League’s Manitoba Moose – his most recent venture onto the score sheet included an assist February 1 in a 4-3 loss to the South Carolina Stingrays.
Also on Wenatchee’s alumni list are the standouts from its Junior A era (2008-2023) – these players laid the foundation for the WHL’s future success in the Wenatchee Valley. These are Wenatchee’s Junior A alumni who are making news in American pro hockey this week:
NIC DOWD, 2008-09 (55 GP, 11-10-21) – Scored the eventual game-winner on his only shot of the night, and added two assists, in last Tuesday’s 6-3 Washington Capitals win against the Florida Panthers.
SAM MORTON, 2016-18/2019-20 (47 GP, 13-19-32) – Has points in eight of his last 11 games for the Calgary Wranglers, and saw a five-game point streak snapped Saturday. Three of those five games included multi-point finishes, with game-winning goals in two of them.
DEVIN COOLEY, 2016-17 (18-9-2, 2.26) – Continues to hunt for his first win in the month of February for the Calgary Wranglers – he allowed four goals each in road losses February 1 at Abbotsford and last Friday at Henderson, but was tagged for an especially hard-luck loss the following night with 17 saves in a 2-1 shootout loss at the Silver Knights.
KYLE MAYHEW, 2016-17 (44 GP, 9-32-41) – Has been scorching hot in 2025, and currently holds a six-game point streak for the Fort Wayne Komets, with points in 13 of his last 16 appearances since New Year’s Day. That streak includes a goal Friday in a 3-2 home loss to the Toledo Walleye, and an assist the following night in a 4-3 overtime loss at Toledo.
CHARLIE COMBS, 2015-17 (36 GP, 14-13-27) – Earned his most recent spot on the score sheet February 1 for the South Carolina Stingrays, opening the scoring in a 4-3 win at the Norfolk Admirals.
BRENDAN HARRIS, 2013-17 (24 GP, 9-14-23) – Spent five weeks out of the Jacksonville IceMen lineup, but has picked up the pace since returning, with points in three of his last four games. He notched an assist on Christopher Brown’s 2-1 overtime winner February 4, and tallied a pair of assists in both a 3-2 loss to the Trois-Rivieres Lions last Friday and a 3-2 overtime win Tuesday at the Orlando Solar Bears.
TROY LOGGINS, 2013-14 (36 GP, 12-8-20) – Returned from a month out of the Tahoe Knight Monsters’ lineup only to score a goal and pick up an assist February 1 in a 4-3 overtime loss at the Kansas City Mavericks.
BLAKE CHRISTENSEN, 2015-16 (24 GP, 5-7-12) – Made his most recent appearance in the scoring column for the Kalamazoo Wings on February 1, with the eventual game-winner in a 6-1 win at the Iowa Heartlanders.
STANISLAV DEMIN, 2016-18 (25 GP, 0-5-5) – Posted his first point in five weeks with an assist Saturday in the Tahoe Knight Monsters’ 4-3 overtime win against the Adirondack Thunder. That assist was also his first for Tahoe after being acquired from the Idaho Steelheads on January 29.
SETH EISELE, 2017-18 (13-8-1, 2.54) – Has suffered back-to-back losses for the South Carolina Stingrays after making 13 saves in a 3-0 loss to the Norfolk Admirals on January 31, and stopping 13 shots last Tuesday in a 4-3 loss at the Orlando Solar Bears.
MICHAEL BULLION, 2014-15 (9-12-2, 3.43) – Has allowed two goals in each of his last three games with the Worcester Railers, splitting a weekend set against the Atlanta Gladiators last weekend. His 27 saves Friday was enough to earn a 3-2 overtime win, but he made 18 saves Saturday in a 4-2 defeat.
GAGE ALEXANDER, 2019-22 (2-1-0, 2.73) – Took his first loss of the season for the Reading Royals last Sunday, stopping 27 shots in a 6-2 loss to the Adirondack Thunder.
