A proud second-year member of the Western Hockey League, the Wenatchee Wild are continuing a celebrated WHL legacy that dates back to Edmonton, Alberta in 1996, continuing in Cranbrook, British Columbia and Winnipeg, Manitoba. These are the organization’s WHL alumni, including alumni from the Kootenay and Winnipeg ICE, making news in American pro hockey this week:
NHL
SAM REINHART, 2010-15 (77 GP, 37-41-78) – Climbed to within eight goals of 300 in his NHL career last Wednesday, adding a goal and an assist in the Florida Panthers’ 3-2 loss at the Toronto Maple Leafs.
ZACH BENSON, 2020-23 (66 GP, 10-15-25) – Posted assists in back-to-back wins over the weekend for the Buffalo Sabres, earning one on Tage Thompson’s 40th goal of the season in Saturday’s 3-2 shootout win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, and notching another the following day on Thompson’s 41st in a 6-3 win against the Boston Bruins.
PEYTON KREBS, 2016-21 (72 GP, 8-15-23) – Picked up a pair of assists Sunday in the Buffalo Sabres’ 6-3 win against the Boston Bruins.
BRAYDEN McNABB, 2006-11 (78 GP, 5-13-18) – Snapped home a wrist shot 40 seconds into the second period Tuesday in the Vegas Golden Knights’ 3-2 shootout loss at the Colorado Avalanche.
AHL
MATTHEW SAVOIE, 2019-24 (60 GP, 18-29-47) – Picked up an assist Sunday in the Bakersfield Condors’ 5-2 loss at the Tucson Roadrunners. He had the secondary assist on Ethan Keppen’s second-period goal, while Kootenay alumnus NOAH PHILP, 2015-17 (52 GP, 15-15-30) registered the primary assist.
JACK FINLEY, 2021-22 (39 GP, 14-14-28) – Cranked out a second-period goal and an assist Friday in a 4-1 Syracuse Crunch win against the Toronto Marlies.
LUKE PHILP, 2015-17 (54 GP, 8-17-25) – Picked up a pair of goals over a weekend set for the Hershey Bears, earning a go-ahead tally Friday in a 2-1 win at the Lehigh Valley Phantoms before tacking on another in Saturday’s 3-2 win over the Hartford Wolf Pack.
CONOR GEEKIE, 2019-24 (23 GP, 11-9-20) – Ripped off the first back-to-back multi-goal games in his pro career last week, with three of the four goals coming on the power play for the Syracuse Crunch. His two power play goals helped put a 5-2 Syracuse win out of reach last Wednesday at the Belleville Senators, while notching two more in Friday’s 4-1 win against the Toronto Marlies. The first of those goals gave Syracuse its only lead of the night, just 30 seconds out of the chute.

CARSON LAMBOS, 2021-22 (63 GP, 5-13-18) – Ran off a three-game point streak this past week as the Iowa Wild look to stay alive in the Calder Cup playoff race – his takeaway in the neutral zone last Wednesday touched off a 6-2 win at the Texas Stars and helped Adam Raska score the fastest goal in Iowa Wild history, just nine seconds off the opening draw. His assist at 5:29 of the first helped Iowa score a 4-2 win Friday against the San Diego Gulls, and his goal with 49 seconds left in the second period provided some insurance in Sunday’s 5-1 win over the Gulls.
ECHL
CAM HAUSINGER, 2017-19 (57 GP, 18-15-33) – Added points to his total in back-to-back games this past weekend for the Indy Fuel in a home-and-home with the Fort Wayne Komets. His assist on an empty-net goal helped cap a 4-2 Indy win Friday in Fort Wayne, before assisting on the game-tying goal the next night and producing the overtime winner with 1:08 left in a 4-3 win Saturday in Fishers.
EASTON ARMSTRONG, 2022-24 (48 GP, 8-13-21) – Returned to the Atlanta Gladiators stat sheet for the first time in two months, posting an assist in Friday’s 5-3 win at the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
ISAAC JOHNSON, 2019-20 (33 GP, 8-12-20) – Played only once this past week, but assists on two go-ahead Tahoe Knight Monsters goals in Friday’s 4-3 loss at the Utah Grizzlies.
REECE HARSCH, 2019-20 (49 GP, 5-11-16) – Posted an assist Friday in a 7-3 Idaho Steelheads win at the Allen Americans.
ELI LIEFFERS, 2015-18 (22 GP, 2-2-4) – Opened the scoring Sunday with a goal just 30 seconds into the Wheeling Nailers’ 3-1 win against the Reading Royals.
Also on Wenatchee’s alumni list are the standouts from its Junior A era (2008-2023) – these players laid the foundation for the WHL’s future success in the Wenatchee Valley. These are Wenatchee’s Junior A alumni who are making news in American pro hockey this week:
SAM MORTON, 2016-18, 2019-20 (67 GP, 20-24-44) – Had a pair of points in back-to-back games for the Calgary Wranglers, starting with a couple of goals last Wednesday in a 4-3 win at the Tucson Roadrunners. Those goals came back-to-back and 2:22 apart, late in the first period. Saturday saw Morton add a pair of assists in a 3-1 Calgary win against the Ontario Reign.
DREW BAVARO, 2019-20 (30 GP, 1-5-6) – Had an assist Friday to help his Cleveland Monsters blast the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 7-1 decision.
BRETT CHORSKE, 2019-20 (3 GP, 1-0-1) – Added another personal milestone Sunday with his first professional goal, the overtime winner in the Charlotte Checkers’ 3-2 triumph at the Providence Bruins.

HARRISON SCOTT, 2019-20 (3 GP, 0-0-0) – Made his professional debut last Wednesday for the Texas Stars in a home game against the Iowa Wild. Scott was signed by the Dallas Stars last week to a one-year entry-level contract for the 2025-26 season, and is with Texas for the remainder of the season on an Amateur Try-Out contract.
DEVIN COOLEY, 2016-17 (21-16-5, 2.88) – Nailed down back-to-back wins for the Calgary Wranglers this past week, stopping 29 shots in last Wednesday’s 4-3 win at the Tucson Roadrunners before stopping 23 more Saturday in a 3-1 victory over the Ontario Reign. His 26 saves wasn’t quite enough the following day, though, taking a 3-2 loss to the Reign to close out the week.
BRENDAN HARRIS, 2013-17 (44 GP, 13-30-43) – Posted a first-period assist last Wednesday in a 4-3 Jacksonville IceMen win at the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
TROY LOGGINS, 2013-14 (58 GP, 19-13-32) – Scored a goal Saturday to help the Tahoe Knight Monsters slide by the Utah Grizzlies in a 7-0 finish.
CRISTOPHE TELLIER, 2018-19 (3 GP, 2-0-2) – Played three games this past weekend in making his pro debut for the Savannah Ghost Pirates, suiting up in his first professional game Friday in a 5-4 loss to the Florida Everblades. His first goal came the following night in a 3-0 win against the Everblades, just 12 seconds into the third period. He added his first game-winner Sunday, scoring 6:45 into the game to kick off a 5-0 road win against the Orlando Solar Bears.

GEHRETT SARGIS, 2009-10 (25 GP, 5-1-6) – Scored 6:07 into Saturday’s Norfolk Admirals game at the Iowa Heartlanders, registering the only goal in a 1-0 finish.
SETH EISELE, 2017-18 (18-9-1, 2.32) – Has gone six straight starts for the South Carolina Stingrays without allowing more than two goals, stopping 20 shots Sunday in South Carolina’s 3-2 win over the in-state rival Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
MICHAEL BULLION, 2014-15 (17-14-3, 3.34) – Helped the Worcester Railers add standings points in two games this past week, including a 22-save performance in Saturday’s 3-2 victory over the Adirondack Thunder. He turned away 28 shots the next afternoon, but fell victim to a 3-2 Adirondack victory in overtime.
