Alumn-ICE Report: April 6, 2026

A proud third-year member of the Western Hockey League, the Wenatchee Wild are continuing a celebrated WHL legacy that dates back to Edmonton, Alberta in 1996, continuing in Cranbrook, British Columbia and Winnipeg, Manitoba. These are the ICE alumni, who are now also members of the #WildFamily, making news in American pro hockey this month:
NHL
PEYTON KREBS, 2016-21 (77 GP, 11-26-37) – Picked up a point in three straight games for the Buffalo Sabres, but tallied just 12 minutes of ice time each in his first two games in April. Krebs and the Sabres have clinched their first Stanley Cup playoff berth in 15 years.
MATTHEW SAVOIE, 2019-24 (77 GP, 15-18-33) – Added a power play goal to his haul Thursday in the Edmonton Oilers’ 3-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, and posted an assist Saturday on the Oilers’ only goal in a 5-1 loss to Vegas. Edmonton is in the midst of a three-team logjam for a Pacific Division championship, tied with Anaheim and a point ahead of Vegas with five games to play.

BRAYDEN McNABB, 2006-11 (58 GP, 4-6-10) – Notched assists in back-to-back games for the Vegas Golden Knights, starting with last Monday’s 4-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks in John Tortorella’s debut as Golden Knights head coach. He added another Thursday in Vegas’s 4-2 victory over the Calgary Flames.
ZACK OSTAPCHUK, 2022-23 (52 GP, 4-3-7) – Played in four games over a six-day stretch and picked up a goal and an assist Thursday in the San Jose Sharks’ 4-1 drubbing of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Ostapchuk landed on the stat sheet for the first time since February 28, and potted his first goal since January 15.

AHL
NOAH PHILP, 2015-17 (23 GP, 3-5-8) – Scored the eventual game-winner just 2:10 into the Chicago Wolves’ 5-0 shutout of the Iowa Wild on Wednesday, before adding a second goal with just 17 seconds remaining in the second period.
ECHL
BRETT DAVIS, 2016-19 (63 GP, 18-26-44) – Tag-teamed with BRILEY WOOD, 2022-24 (66 GP, 9-22-31) on a second-period goal in Saturday’s 6-4 loss to the Tulsa Oilers, with each earning an assist on the play, before Davis picked up another primary assist on a game-tying marker with two minutes to play. BOBBY RUSSELL, 2016-18 (57 GP, 5-16-21) earned a primary assist of his own in the opening minutes of the contest.
EVAN FRIESEN, 2021-25 (68 GP, 23-19-42) – Scored a goal with 4:26 left to wrap up Wednesday’s 6-3 win for the Utah Grizzlies over the Wichita Thunder, before tacking on two assists in Utah’s 5-2 win over the Thunder on Friday.

HUDSON ELYNUIK, 2013-14 (36 GP, 12-20-32) – Picked up a pair of assists in the Florida Everblades’ 5-1 win Friday at the Jacksonville Icemen.
BEN ZLOTY, 2018-23 (41 GP, 6-25-31) – Added three assists this past weekend in a pair of matchups between the Norfolk Admirals and the Adirondack Thunder. Two came in a 6-5 win Friday that nearly saw the Thunder erase a two-goal lead in the final 33 seconds, while the last helper came on the game-winner with 2:05 left in overtime Saturday in a 3-2 Norfolk win.
BRAYDEN EDWARDS, 2021-22 (49 GP, 12-17-29) – Cranked out back-to-back multi-point efforts for the Wheeling Nailers, starting with a pair of goals in Friday’s 8-5 win over the Fort Wayne Komets – the first marker came just 1:53 off the opening draw. One of his two assists in Saturday’s 4-2 triumph over the Toledo Walleye came on the eventual game-winner, at 5:44 of the second.

CAM HAUSINGER, 2017-19 (59 GP, 15-12-27) – Opened the month of April with points in all three games for the Toledo Walleye, starting with the opening goal in a 5-4 overtime win at the Indy Fuel on Wednesday. His assist late in the second period Friday touched off a four-goal Toledo outburst in Friday’s 6-2 win at Kalamazoo, before the Walleye returned home and got another goal from Hausinger Saturday in a 4-2 win over the Wheeling Nailers.
EASTON ARMSTRONG, 2022-24 (48 GP, 17-9-26) – Posted a pair of points in the Tulsa Oilers’ weekend set against the Rapid City Rush – his goal with 3:11 left in the first period of Friday’s 5-1 win put the Oilers ahead by four, while his assist came on the Oilers’ third go-ahead goal in Saturday’s 6-4 win in Rapid City.
Also on Wenatchee’s alumni list are the standouts from its Junior A era (2008-2023) – these players laid the foundation for the WHL’s future success in the Wenatchee Valley. These are Wenatchee’s Junior A alumni who are making news in American pro hockey this month:
NIC DOWD, 2008-09 (70 GP, 5-14-19) – Played only eight-and-a-half minutes in the Vegas Golden Knights’ game against the Vancouver Canucks last Monday, but made the most of his time with an assist in a 4-2 win.
DEVIN COOLEY, 2016-17 (10-9-5, 2.63) – Returned to the win column Saturday for the Calgary Flames, turning away 36 of 39 shots in Calgary’s 5-3 win at the Anaheim Ducks.
SAM MORTON, 2016-18/2019-20 (64 GP, 16-20-36) – Capped off the Calgary Wranglers’ five-goal charge Friday with a goal in a 5-2 Wranglers win at the Laval Rocket.

HARRISON SCOTT, 2019-20 (66 GP, 16-14-30) – Scored three goals in the Texas Stars’ weekend set against the Chicago Wolves – two of those tallies came Friday in a 3-1 win in Cedar Park, while his goal Saturday touched off a four-goal run for the Stars in Saturday’s 4-2 win over the Wolves.

LUCAS SOWDER, 2016-18 (49 GP, 13-13-26) – Picked up assists in back-to-back Kansas City Mavericks games this past weekend against the Idaho Steelheads – his assist Friday came on the opening goal of Kansas City’s 5-4 overtime win at the Steelheads, while his apple on Saturday came with 14 seconds left in the first period of a 4-3 regulation triumph.
MARKO REIFENBERGER, 2018-19 (63 GP, 7-6-13) – Scored a goal halfway through the third period of Saturday’s Norfolk Admirals game against the Adirondack Thunder, on the way to a 3-2 Norfolk overtime win.
TREVOR GRIEBEL, 2018-20 (10 GP, 2-1-3) – Has his first multi-point game in the pros, with a goal and an assist in Saturday’s 2-1 Jacksonville Icemen overtime win against the Florida Everblades. His assist came on the game-winner halfway through the seven-minute overtime session.
MICHAEL BULLION, 2014-15 (10-9-3, 2.75) – Returned to the Jacksonville Icemen lineup after a three-week absence, and proceeded to shut down the Florida Everblades with 41 saves in a 2-1 overtime win Saturday.
