A proud second-year member of the Western Hockey League, the Wenatchee Wild are continuing a celebrated WHL legacy that dates back to Edmonton, Alberta in 1996, continuing in Cranbrook, British Columbia and Winnipeg, Manitoba. These are the organization’s WHL alumni, including alumni from the Kootenay and Winnipeg ICE, making news as the American pro hockey playoffs begin:

AHL
MATTHEW SAVOIE, 2019-24 (66 GP, 19-35-54) – Closed his first pro regular season with a roar, scoring an empty-net goal to cap Friday’s 5-3 Bakersfield Condors win over the Henderson Silver Knights before picking up three assists the following night in Bakersfield’s 8-2 shellacking of the Silver Knights. Savoie ends the season as the organization’s highest-scoring AHL alumnus this season. NOAH PHILP, 2015-17 (55 GP, 19-16-35) was a frequent counterpart in the scoring column, picking up a goal of his own in Friday’s game before cranking out a hat trick and an assist in Saturday’s win.

LUKE PHILP, 2015-17 (58 GP, 10-20-30) – Wrapped up his regular season for the two-time defending Calder Cup champs by scoring a game-tying goal in Saturday’s 4-3 loss to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

ECHL
BEN ZLOTY, 2018-23 – Scored the first playoff points in his pro career last Thursday, with a goal and an assist in the Norfolk Admirals’ 4-0 Game 2 shutout of the Wheeling Nailers. The Admirals have racked up back-to-back 4-0 blankings of Wheeling as the series shifts to West Virginia on Wednesday.
ISAAC JOHNSON, 2019-20 – Fired off multi-point performances in both of the first two Tahoe Knight Monsters playoff games at the Wichita Thunder. His two assists Saturday helped the Knight Monsters roll up a 6-1 win in the opener, followed by a third-period goal and an assist in Sunday’s 8-1 Game 2 victory. Tahoe hosts Wednesday, Friday and – if necessary – Saturday as the series moves west for the middle three games.

Also on Wenatchee’s alumni list are the standouts from its Junior A era (2008-2023) – these players laid the foundation for the WHL’s future success in the Wenatchee Valley. These are Wenatchee’s Junior A alumni who are making news as the American pro hockey playoffs begin:
SAM MORTON, 2016-18, 2019-20 (1 GP, 1-0-1) – Scored his first NHL goal in his first NHL game last Thursday, helping the Calgary Flames blaze past the Los Angeles Kings, 5-1. Morton logged 12:25 of ice time on 18 shifts, and knocked home his first goal for the game-winner with 13:55 remaining in the third period, on his first shot on goal in the NHL.

KYLE MAYHEW, 2016-17 (16 GP, 2-8-10) – Finished his Bakersfield Condors regular season off in style, with an assist Friday in a 5-3 win over the Henderson Silver Knights. He hammered out a power play goal midway through the first period and picked up an assist at the seven-minute mark of the second in Saturday’s 8-1 win against Henderson. Upon returning to the ECHL, he picked up right where he left off with an assist in the final seconds of the first period in the Fort Wayne Komets’ 7-6 overtime win at the Iowa Heartlanders. Iowa’s first-ever playoff homestand continues with Game 4 on Tuesday evening, and Game 5 on Thursday.
BRYAN YOON, 2015-16 (22 GP, 0-5-5) – More than doubled his AHL scoring for the season in one weekend, posting an assist Friday in the Colorado Eagles’ 3-2 win at the Tucson Roadrunners before tacking on two more the following night in a 7-4 loss.
BRETT CHORSKE, 2019-20 (8 GP, 3-1-4) – Picked up his second game-winning goal in a two-week span with the Charlotte Checkers’ first goal in a 5-0 shutout of the Springfield Thunderbirds on Friday.
DEVIN COOLEY, 2016-17 (21-17-5, 2.94) – Took the loss in his last decision of the regular season for the Calgary Wranglers, stopping eight shots Friday in an 8-3 loss to the San Jose Barracuda.
SETH EISELE, 2017-18 (0-1-0, 4.10) – Made his AHL debut Saturday for the Hershey Bears, turning away 16 shots in a 4-3 loss to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
CHARLIE COMBS, 2015-17 – Opened the South Carolina Stingrays’ opening-round playoff series against the Orlando Solar Bears with the game-winning goal at 6:46 of the third, as the Stingrays nabbed a 5-3 win. The home team has won all three games thus far, with Game 4 set for Wednesday in Orlando.

BRENDAN HARRIS, 2013-17 – Posted assists on both Jacksonville IceMen goals in Friday’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Florida Everblades. Jacksonville dropped both games on the Gulf Coast before returning home to host Games 3 and 4 on Wednesday and Thursday.
DAKOTA RAABE, 2014-17 – Scored a power play goal just 93 seconds into the second period of the Iowa Heartlanders’ 5-3 Game 1 win at the Fort Wayne Komets on Friday. That win briefly put the Heartlanders ahead in the series, and marked the first playoff victory in franchise history.
