Last Game: The Wheat Kings picked up a big 4-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen Friday night. Carson Bjarnason stopped 34 of 36 shots. Nolan Flamand picked up his first 3 point night of the season but Nate Danielson’s 10 game point streak came to an end. It was a game where the Wheat Kings got off to a 2-0 lead heading into the third but Hitmen forward London Hoilett scored a pair of goals to tie it up. Quinn Mantei would restore the lead with under 3 minutes remaining in the game and the Wheat Kings would add the empty net goal to win the first of a 3 game Alberta road trip.
Jan 21st VS Red Deer : The Wheat Kings and Red Deer Rebels meet for the third time this season. One win came on Remembrance Day with the Wheat Kings winning in a shootout at home, the 2nd came 8 days later where backup goaltender Nick Jones stood on his head stopping 40 of 42 shots earning his first career WHL win. The Wheat Kings success against the Rebels is thanks to stellar defensive play and goaltending. They’ve allowed two goals in each game versus the Rebels and got production on all sides of the ice scoring both powerplay and shorthanded goals.
