Penticton went 5-2-1 against their new Okanagan Rival in their inaugural season in 2025-26. Start times for all Vees\u2019 home games, sorted by day of the week, are listed below:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Monday through Thursday Games: 6:35 pm<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Friday Games: 7:05 pm<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Saturday Games: 6:05 pm<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sunday Games: 4:05 pm<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Exceptions to the above are the following two holiday games:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Friday, Jan. 1 vs Victoria 4:00 pm (New Year\u2019s Day)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Monday, Feb. 15 vs Prince George 2:00 pm (Family Day)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Schedule Breakdown<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Of the Vees\u2019 34 regular season home games, 27 will be played between Friday and Sunday or holidays. The Vees will head to Alberta for the first time this season to play Calgary, Red Deer, Edmonton, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat and will welcome Regina, Brandon, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Swift Current and Saskatoon to the SOEC for the first time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Within the B.C. Division<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the Vees will play each of Kelowna, Victoria, Prince George, Kamloops and Vancouver eight times each (four home, four away).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Penticton plays the U.S. Division teams as follows:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Tri-City four times (two home, two away), Spokane three times (one home, two away), Portland three times (two home, one away), Wenatchee three times (one home, two away), Everett twice (one home, one away), Seattle twice (one home, one away).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Penticton will have two, four game home-stands that will be tied for their longest of the season. The first one is Oct. 2-9, with the second being Jan. 1-15.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Schedule Notes<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The 2025-26 regular season will pause for the WHL\u2019s annual Christmas break. The Vees will not play games between Dec. 19-26.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Penticton\u2019s final regular season home game is Friday, March 26th, against the Rockets. He will return to his high school program once their season begins and then re-join the Vees following the high school season&#8217;s conclusion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhitaker Rewertz is an explosive, dynamic skater and a heady puck mover who can break pucks out with his feet or tape-to-tape with a pass,\u201d said Vees director of scouting Adam Sergerie. \u201cHe\u2019s excellent at staying connected to the play with and without the puck, kills rushes early with his forward skating, and has a good defensive stick. We\u2019re excited to have him in our organization, and Vees fans are going to really enjoy watching him play.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rewertz stands at 5-FOOT-10 and 161 lbs. Pakarinen played 31 games for Kiekko-Espoo U20 this season registering 13 goals and 17 assists at just 17-years-old. He also played nine games in Ligga, the top league in Finland, for Kiekko-Espoo picking up one assist. The 6-FOOT-2 198 Lbs. forward was drafted in the 7th round, 207th overall by the Vegas Golden Knights in this past draft.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With the 119th pick the Vees nabbed forward Dominik Drabek from Czechia. Drabak skated in 24 games for HC Dynamo Pardubice U17 this season, potting 17 goals and adding 18 assists adding seven points in nine games during the playoffs. The 2009-born forward played one game for HC Dynamo Pardubrice at the U20 level as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Vees head coach and general manager Fred Harbinson spoke about the new additions to the Vees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe\u2019re really excited obviously,\u201d Harbinson explained. \u201cI think they are two different types of players, both with a lot of talent and high ceilings. Pakarinen just got picked by Vegas in the NHL draft and is having a really good development camp from what we\u2019ve been told and Drebek is a player that will be with us for a couple of years hopefully, it looks like. He\u2019s a very responsible player that plays with a lot of energy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cBoth players are going to be great additions to the team.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Vees have also announced a couple of roster moves recently.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">20-year-old forward Chase Vaillant was placed on veteran waivers and will not return to the Vees for his final junior year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cHe is still going to continue playing junior hockey somewhere this year,\u201d said Harbinson. \u201cI told him we wish him the best of luck and will try to help him out any way we can. He\u2019s got his development money from playing in the league and was a great kid for us. He played whatever role was asked of him. Now, the towering defenseman is just a handful of hours away from hearing his name called at the NHL entry Draft. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The San Clemente, CA native is ranked 99th overall among North American skaters heading into the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, which kicks off on Friday and continues throughout Saturday. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Burick says he is getting excited to hear his name get called this weekend, but won\u2019t celebrate too long as he is taking a \u201cstrictly business\u201d approach to the offseason. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cFor me, I\u2019m kind of just focused on staying where my feet are,\u201d said Burick. \u201cI\u2019ll celebrate for a day or two but then it is right back to work. It will be really cool but I\u2019m not super nervous. I\u2019m definitely gettingexcited as it comes closer, but I\u2019m just trying to stay focused.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Burick is the only member of his family or his peer group in his hometown who chose to go the hockey route, and says getting drafted will be just as much for him as it is for everyone who has helped him get to this point in his career.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cNot just for my family, but for my friends back home, it\u2019s definitely a cool experience to go through together,\u201d he said. \u201cNo one else is really in this situation in my whole town, because it\u2019s not a hockey town. As much as it\u2019s my day, it\u2019s everyone else\u2019s day too because a lot of people made sacrifices, a lot of people helped me through it, and I wouldn\u2019t be in this position without them.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The 6\u20198 blueliner talked about what it has been like to go through the draft process leading up to this weekend.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI just focused on being myself throughout the process,\u201d he explained. \u201cI tried to be respectful and be genuine and I think that is what has helped me be successful.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Following the draft, Burick will set his focus back on returning to the Penticton Vees for the 2026-27 season. As a rookie, Burick registered four points in 50 regular season games and added two more assists in the playoffs. Where he made the biggest impact on games was with his physicality and using his long reach to his advantage.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Burick explains that adjusting to different situations is where he feels he improved the most during his rookie campaign.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI would say I improved most in just finding different ways to help our team win,\u201d he said. \u201cEvery team has different areas that you can fit into to find a way to contribute and I thought I was able to adapt well to different opponents and different situations.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Being that Burick may be just one of two returning defencemen this season for the Vees, he feels he can take on more of a leadership role in his 18-year-old year and show newcoming players what it takes to be a Penticton Vee. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI think it starts with your play,\u201d Burick said. \u201cYou have to lead through action first and if I\u2019m able to do that, which I\u2019ve been preparing for the whole offseason, then I certainly hope I\u2019m in that position. He sported a 2.45 goals against average which was third best in the WHL along with a .906 save percentage.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Proctor, MN native talked about what drew him back to Penticton for his final junior season.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cFor starters, the group of guys we had last year was very special,\u201d Reyelts said. \u201cThe coaching staff was amazing and everything else about the organization is very inviting and makes you feel comfortable right away. I came out of my comfort zone joining a whole new league coming out of the USHL last year and I think it will be a new challenge this year coming back to the team, having higher expectations and being able to come into the year with a leadership role.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI think all that just sounds like a good challenge for me and that\u2019s what I want to do to help myself develop.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Despite finishing as a finalist for Goaltender of the Year in the WHL last season, Reyelts\u2019 eyes are set firmly on team awards as opposed to any individual accolades.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cIf it happens, it happens,\u201d says Reyelts. \u201cI\u2019m more focused on the team awards like winning the division again, getting through the conference finals, making it to the finals, and hopefully winning the Ed Chynoweth Cup. That&#8217;s the goal this year so I\u2019m not too worried about individual awards or anything like that. I just want to do whatever I can to try and get some wins.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The veteran goaltender, as he mentioned, will be tasked with a bigger leadership role this season as the Vees coaching staff named him an assistant captain for this upcoming season. A role he is excited to fill.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cIt means a lot to me,\u201d he explained. \u201cIt\u2019s such an historic franchise and to be named as one of the assistant captains in an organization like this, it always means a lot and I\u2019m super honoured.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cObviously it brings responsibilities and challenges that are a little different from last year and I\u2019m excited for that.\u201d <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Reyelts also can\u2019t wait to pair up with Cal Stone, who was named captain, in that leadership group.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI think we both compliment each other really well,\u201d said Reyelts. \u201cI think that we have a really good friendship first off, and we&#8217;re also really competitive when it comes to pretty much everything that we do. I think that will be really good for us and good for the team.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI know Cal loves the Vees more than anything. He will do anything for the team and I want to implement that into myself and learn from him as well as I\u2019m sure he will learn from me.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Vees head coach and general manager Fred Harbinson and his staff brought Reyelts in last off-season, during the roster building process that came along with being an expansion team, and he says he can\u2019t wait to have AJ back. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cNot only is AJ an elite goaltender, he is a tremendous leader,\u201d said Harbinson. \u201cHe\u2019s someone who will clearly be an integral piece of our leadership group. AJ leads by example, his work ethic will continue to influence the identity of our team.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Vees drop the puck on the 2026-27 season in Prince George on Sept. 18 before returning to the SOEC for the home opener on Sept. 25 against the Kelowna Rockets. The 20-year-old will be out until early 2027 while he recovers from an injury sustained last season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Saskatoon, SK native suited up in 44 games for the Madison Capitals of the USHL last season picking up seven goals and 18 assists, his second season with Madison.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Prior to joining the Capitals, Buckberger spent time with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the BCHL and the Nipawin Hawks of the SJHL. He also played in the 2022-23 Circle K Classic tournament in Calgary as a member of the Saskatoon Contacts U18 AAA team registering one goal and five assists in four games.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cRonan is a veteran two-way Defender that has the ability to run a power play,\u201d said Vees head coach and general manager Fred Harbinson. \u201cHe is going to need time to recover from his injury but will be a great addition in the second half of the season.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Buckberger stands at 5-FOOT-11 and 185 lbs. It has been a journey but I\u2019m super excited for what this year and the future holds.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Stone led all Vees defencemen with a +7 rating in the playoffs and chipped in four assists in 12 games as Penticton made it to the Conference Championship Series before falling to the eventual WHL champions in the Everett Silvertips.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He talked about what it takes to be a leader of the Vees.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI think it\u2019s just leading by example,\u201d said Stone. \u201cYou don\u2019t want to be a drill sergeant, but you also don\u2019t want to just be a cheerleader. You want someone that the team can watch day after day and realize that\u2019s the standard I hold myself to. I would never say something that I won\u2019t be willing to do myself and I truly believe that that\u2019s the best way to go about leading a team, just leading by example and being the most consistent person in that domain.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI think letting the coaches coach and then letting me as a player be a support to every single person on the team is also a very important part to making sure we are a cohesive group.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Kelowna, BC native follows in the footsteps of Nolan Stevenson who was also a three-year member of the Vees and says there is a lot to take away from the former Vee as he steps into the role.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI think Nolan Stevenson was an unbelievable role model,\u201d Stone said. \u201cFor me as a rookie in the BCHL and also last year, navigating us through that first year in the WHL. I think the biggest thing that Nolan was really good at is just understanding the ebbs-and-flows of a season. Having high moments and low moments but being neutral through it all. Not letting bad events maybe ruin some of the success you\u2019vehad.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI think how he handled that in the WHL in our first season is something I want to bring to the organization next year.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Vees have announced one assistant captain for next year as AJ Reyelts will return between the pipes for his 20-year-old season. Although the Vees star goaltender won\u2019t physically wear an \u201cA\u201d, Stone is excited to have Reyelts by his side.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhen I heard AJ was returning, he\u2019s a player that automatically makes our team a contender for whatever championship you want to think about,\u201d Stone explained. \u201cHe\u2019s a great leader in the room. To have his support and to be able to communicate with him as a teammate, but more importantly as a friend, is something that is going to be really important next In return, the Vees have moved a 2029 4th round pick, a 2030 3rd round pick and their 1st round pick in the 2026 CHL Import Draft to the Victoria Royals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jones, a native of Winnipeg, MB, spent last season with the Fargo Force of the USHL racking up 26 goals and 26 assists in 61 games played, tacking on 10 points in nine playoff games this past season. He led the Force in goals and was second in points. Jones was a member of the Shattuck St. Mary\u2019s program from 2022-25 registering over 200 points while with the prep school.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cGraham is a dynamic forward that attacks the game offensively,\u201d said Vees president, head coach and general manager Fred Harbinson. \u201cHis creativity with the puck not only gives him opportunities to score, but also places his line mates in positions to do the same.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cHis competitiveness to want to win ultimately is what drew us to make this deal.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jones won a US 18U National Championship in 2025 with Shattuck St. Mary\u2019s where he collected 11 points in six games in the tournament. He registered 52 points in 27 games with Shakopee High in the Minnesota High School league in 2025-26 and also put up 22 points in 20 games in the UMHSEHL.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Shakopee, MN native was taken 12th overall in the USHL Draft in 2024.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to add Nate to our organization,\u201d said Vees director of scouting Adam Sergerie. \u201cHe is a highly dynamic player who brings an impressive combination of skill, creativity, and hockey sense. His rush play is exceptional, driven by his separation speed.
