The Silvertips win the series in four games.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nolan Stevenson got things going for the Vees 15:33 into the opening frame giving the Vees the 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After Everett tied the game, Jacob Kvasnicka took a pass from Callum Stone in the high slot and fired it home for his eighth post-season goal to make the score 2-1 heading into the third period.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Everett scored twice exactly two minutes apart to give them their first lead.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vees would pull their goaltender but the Silvertips would find the empty net to make the final 4-2.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Series So Far: <\/b>The two teams played the opening 40 minutes quite evenly in Game 1. The Silvertips got a fortunate bounce to make the game 3-1 late and then played solid, lock-down defence the rest of the way adding an empty netter to make the final 4-1.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Game 2 saw the Vees battle back from three different one goal deficits with Ethan Weber tying the game 4-4 with 56 seconds to go to send it to overtime. It was the Silvertips who found the net on the powerplay in double OT to take the 5-4 win and 2-0 series lead. AJ Reyelts stopped 48-of-53 shots he faced in the loss.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vees and Silvertips once again clashed in a tight battle in Game 3. Everett struck twice early in the third to take a 4-2 lead but Brady Birnie got the Vees within one with his team leading ninth goal of the post-season. Despite a handful of chances late, the Vees couldn\u2019t even the score for a second straight game and fell 4-3.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vees Player to Watch: D Ethan Weber: <\/b>Weber<\/span> has scored in back-to-back games for the Vees in this series. The defenceman has four goals so far in the post-season to lead all Vees from the back end.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ethan Weber gave the Vees an early 1-0 lead as he found the back of the net 37 seconds into the contest.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Everett would even the score off the stick of Zackary Shantz just a couple minutes later to send it to the intermission 1-1.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It was Nolan Stevenson\u2019s turn to strike early in a period as he feathered a shot through traffic past Anders Miller for his third of the post-season to make it 2-1.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Everett would once again tie it to send the game 2-2 to the final frame.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Brady Birnie got things started for the Vees banking the puck off of Anders Miller and in to make the score 1-0 early.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Silvertips added two of their own before the period wrapped up to make it 2-1 heading into the first intermission.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Diego Johnson answered with his second of the post-season 7:17 into the middle frame to even the game at 2-2.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Once again the Silvertips would answer and take a 3-2 lead into the third.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vees tied it up 2:32 into the third period as Birnie went in alone on goal and flipped it high over Miller\u2019s glove for his second of the night and eighth of the post season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After Everett went up 4-3 and with the goalie pulled, Ethan Weber jammed home a puck in the crease to tie the game and send it into overtime.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vees withstood an early push from the Silvertips and had some chances of their own but it was ultimately Everett who found the net first, off the stick of Landon DuPont, to make it 1-0 after 20 minutes of play.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Silvertips would add to their lead in a back-and-forth middle frame to make it 2-0 heading into the final period.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ryden Evers got the Vees on the board with a backhand shot that went five-hole for his seventh goal of the postseason to make it 2-1.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That would be as close as the Vees would get however as the Silvertips would add another goal shortly after and pick up an empty netter to make the final 4-1.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vees battled back from a 2-0 series deficit, winning four straight games, to take the Prince George Cougars out in six games in Round 2. Louie Wehmann was the driving force in the series picking up seven points in six games. AJ Reyelts took over in the back half of Round two with a 1-0 shutout in Game 5 and stopping 40-of-42 shots he faced in a 3-2 overtime victory in Game 6.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, Penticton battles the top rated team in the CHL in the Everett Silvertips who went a league leading 57-8-2-1 in the regular season and are 8-1 in the post-season so far. The Vees will face off with the #1 Ranked CHL team in the country, the Everett Silvertips, in Round 3 starting Thursday in Everett.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Brick Walls Between The Pipes<\/b><\/p>\n

The Vees and Silvertips goaltenders are big reasons why these two teams are still playing here in Round 3.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

AJ Reyelts: <\/strong>The Vees goaltender was dominant in the back half of the series with the Cougars stopping 25 shots in a 1-0 Game 5 win and 40-of-42 shots in the Vees 3-2 OT victory to send them to the third round. Reyelts is 8-2 in the post-season with a 2.44 GAA and a .914 save percentage. Against the Silvertips this season the native of Proctor, MN went 1-1-1-0 with a .929 save percentage and one shutout.<\/span><\/p>\n

Anders Miller:<\/strong> Miller has been outstanding in the post-season starting all nine Silvertips games. He\u2019s 8-0-1 so far in the playoffs with a league leading 1.55 GAA (among starters) and a .948 save percentage. Miller made two appearances against the Vees this season going 1-1 with a .870 save percentage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Defensive Domination<\/b><\/p>\n

The Vees and the Silvertips were two of the best teams in the league in regular season with the Silvertips having the second-least goals against in the league (173) and the Vees having the third-least (188). <\/span>

\n<\/span>So far in the playoffs both teams have had major contributions from the back end. Nolan Steveson leads all Vees defencemen with seven points (2g, 5a) while three different Vees defencemen have scored game winning goals in their eight playoff wins. <\/span>

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]The Penticton Vees battled back from a 2-0 deficit in the third period to take a 3-2 OT victory in Game 6 over the Prince George Cougars and advance to the Western Conference Final to battle the Everett Silvertips.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After no goals were scored in an opening period where the Cougars outshot the Vees 15-4, Prince George found the back of the net off the stick of Carson Carles off a rush and Lee Shurgot on the powerplay to make it 2-0 after 40 minutes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Diego Johnson got the Vees back within one early in the third period, his first goal of the post-season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Then, Doogan Pederson struck for his first playoff goal to tie the game 2-2 and send it to overtime for the first time in the series.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2:16 into the extra frame Samuel Drancak fired a shot off the pads of Joshua Ravensbergen which Jacob Kvasnicka deposited into the net for his seventh of the playoffs and the series clinching goal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vees will take on the Everett Silvertips in the Western Conference Final starting next week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
