[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]The Penticton Vees battled back from a 2-0 deficit in the third period to take a 3-2 OT victory in Game 6 over the Prince George Cougars and advance to the Western Conference Final to battle the Everett Silvertips.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After no goals were scored in an opening period where the Cougars outshot the Vees 15-4, Prince George found the back of the net off the stick of Carson Carles off a rush and Lee Shurgot on the powerplay to make it 2-0 after 40 minutes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Diego Johnson got the Vees back within one early in the third period, his first goal of the post-season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Then, Doogan Pederson struck for his first playoff goal to tie the game 2-2 and send it to overtime for the first time in the series.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2:16 into the extra frame Samuel Drancak fired a shot off the pads of Joshua Ravensbergen which Jacob Kvasnicka deposited into the net for his seventh of the playoffs and the series clinching goal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vees will take on the Everett Silvertips in the Western Conference Final starting next week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Series So Far: <\/b>The Vees struggled to match the physicality of the Cougars in Game 1 and ultimately fell 4-1 despite outshooting Prince George 35-20.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Two shorthanded goals against in the first period put the Vees behind the eight ball in Game 2 and they couldn\u2019t climb out of the hole eventually falling 6-2.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vees fell down 2-0 in Game 3 but were able to will their way back into the game and the series led by Louie Wehmann, Brady Birnie and Matteo Danis who all had three points in a 5-3 win.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vees kept their cool in a tightly contested Game 4 on their way to a 5-2 victory. Penticton used four straight powerplay goals to pull away late in the fourth game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Penticton had their best game defensively in Game 5 and Brittan Alstead scored the lone goal of the game on the powerplay as the Vees skated away with a 1-0 win and 3-2 series lead. AJ Reyelts stopped all 25 shots he faced for his first WHL playoff shutout.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Penticton used their only powerplay of the night to their advantage as Charlie Michaud found Brittan Alstead with a cross-ice pass and he one-timed it past Joshua Ravensbergen to make it 1-0 after 20 minutes.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vees were strong in the second period, only giving up five shots, and carried the 1-0 lead into the third.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The series is now even at two games apiece.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Louie Wehmann continued his hot play as of late opening the scoring with his fifth of the post-season. The Cougars however, would answer with two of their own to make the score 2-1 after 20 minutes.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vees struck for their first of four straight powerplay goals as Ryden Evers capitalized on a rebound to make the score 2-2 after 40 minutes of play.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Cougars unravelled in the third period and the Vees capitalized. Nolan Stevenson, Ethan Weber and Brady Birnie all found the back of the net with powerplay goals late to give the Vees the 5-2 victory.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Series So Far: <\/b>The Vees struggled to match the physicality of the Cougars in Game 1 and ultimately fell 4-1 despite outshooting Prince George 35-20. Noah Milford scored his first WHL playoff goal in the Game 1 loss.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Two shorthanded goals against in the first period put the Vees behind the eight ball in Game 2 and they couldn\u2019t climb out of the hole eventually falling 6-2. Louie Wehmann had a goal and an assist in the loss.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vees fell down 2-0 in Game 3 but were able to will their way back into the game and the series led by Louie Wehmann\u2019s three assist performance and Brady Birnie chipping in two goals. Matteo Danis also registered his first goal of the post-season and added two assists. AJ Reyelts made some massive saves to keep the game at 2-0 early in the second period as the Vees earned a 5-3 victory.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vees Player to Watch: Louie Wehmann<\/b>: <\/b>Wehmann has five points in the last two games and sits second in Vees playoff scoring with nine points in eight games. Wehmann was the catalyst in the Vees comeback in Game 3.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Cougars now hold a 2-1 series lead.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For the third straight game Prince George opened the scoring as they found the back of the net twice in the first period to make it 2-0 after 20 minutes.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vees would come to life in the second as Louie Wehmann drove wide and took the puck to the net before Matteo Danis deposited his first goal of the post-season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Penticton struck again 10 seconds later with Ryden Evers beating Joshua Ravensbergen under the arm to tie the game 2-2 heading into the final frame.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Brady Birnie gave the Vees their first lead of the series in the third, taking a pass from Wehmann on a two-on-one and firing the puck home to make it 3-2. <\/span><\/p>\n

After the Cougars tied the game, Wehmann again found Birnie at the back post with a beautiful pass that Birnie finished off for his second of the night.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jacob Kvasnicka found the empty net late to make the final 5-3.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Prince Goerge took early momentum with two shorthanded goals in the first period off the sticks of Terik Parascak and Tyrone Sobry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Cougars would add a powerplay goal and a late goal five-on-five to make it 4-0 after the opening 20.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dawson Seitz picked up his first of the playoffs which was the lone goal in the second making it 5-0.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After the Cougars made it 6-0, the Vees found the back of the net as Chase Valliant made a great pass from behind the net to Louie Wehmann who buried his fourth of the playoffs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Series So Far: <\/b>The Vees struggled to match the physicality of the Cougars in Game 1 and ultimately fell 4-1 despite outshooting Prince George 35-20.
