The Penticton Vees avenged their 4-1 loss on Friday with a 5-1 victory over the Cougars in Prince George on Saturday night.

The Vees got the ball rolling on the powerplay on Saturday night as Gavin Katz took a pass from Tyden Bergeson on a five-on-three and wired home his first WHL goal to make the score 1-0 after the first period of play.

It was all Penticton in the middle frame as they would strike three times. First, Tyler Deakos picked the top, blocker-side, corner 50-seconds into the period for his first WHL goal. Then, it was captain Cal Stone feathering a shot through traffic from the point for a powerplay goal to make it 3-0.

The Vees would wrap up their second period scoring with 8.2 seconds remaining as Nate Pederson batted home a rebound for his first WHL goal to make the score 4-0 after 40 minutes of play.

After the Cougars made it 4-1, Pederson took a pass from Katz and buried it on a two-on-one to make the final 5-1.

Vees goaltender Kaenan Smith picked up the victory in his first career WHL start.
