Tiger Footprints All Over Team BC’s Roster
Medicine Hat, AB – Four members of the 2023 WHL Prospect Draft class for the Medicine Hat Tigers will represent their home province of British Columbia at this year’s WHL Cup.
First round picks Liam & Markus Ruck (Osooyos, BC) along with Koray Bozkaya (Maple Ridge, BC) & Riley Steen (Victoria, BC) will suit up at the WHL Cup in Red Deer October 17-22.
Liam was selected 9th overall in the 1st round of the Prospects Draft along with twin brother Markus who went 21st overall. The next pick in the draft the Tigers had was Bozkaya at 53rd overall in round three. While Steen went 127th in the sixth round.
The Ruck twins suited up in two pre season games last week against Lethbridge with Markus scoring one goal on the power play in Medicine Hat’s 5-4 win over Lethbridge while Liam generated ample scoring chances with six shots on goal in two games.
The defenders of Steen & Bozkaya each played in last Tuesday’s 7-3 win over the Hurricanes with Bozkaya finishing with a +/- rating of 3 while Steen was a plus one.
Steen & the Ruck twins will report to the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) and play for the OHA Okanagan U18 Prep Program while Bozkaya will be playing for the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds of the BC U18 Hockey League this fall.

Medicine Hat will conclude their pre season schedule with a pair of games with the Swift Current Broncos. First at home on Friday, September 15 & then in Swift Current on September 16.
The Tigers open the 2023-2024 WHL Regular Season. Friday, September 22 in Calgary while hosting the Hitmen the following night on Saturday, September 23 for the home opener.
