Medicine Hat, AB - The Tigers started off the 2026 WHL Draft by bringing back a familiar name in the Tigers family in Max Osgood, the son of Tigers Alumnus and three-time Stanley Cup Champion Chris Osgood, with the 21st pick in the first round. Osgood is a smart, agile forward with quickness and slippery skill. He’s hard on pucks, possesses strong vision, and reads the ice well. A detail-oriented player who competes at both ends of the rink.

The Tigers kicked off day two of the 2026 WHL Draft by selecting defenceman Nash Springer from the Dallas Stars Elite 14U with the 44th pick of the draft. Springer is an engaged, dynamic defenseman who excels in all three zones. He shows strong puck confidence, fires a heavy shot from the blueline with a quick release, and jumps into seams effectively. A physical player who defends hard, separates opponents with big hits, and uses his skating to shake checks.

Once again adding to their blueline, the Tigers drafted Shane Regehr, son of former NHLer Robyn Regehr, from the Calgary U15 AAA Northstars with the 55th pick of the draft. Regehr is a strong defensive minded defenseman with excellent stick work and gap control. He consistently blocks shots, wins battles along the boards, and plays a physical game that lays out opponents. He showed significant improvement throughout the year and brings reliable, competitive 2-way play to the backend.

While the Tigers did not have a fourth-round draft pick, they had two third-round picks, and with their second they looked to deepen their talent down the middle with Luke Bodtker at the 57th overall selection. Bodtker is an intelligent two-way center who supports the puck well in all three zones. He creates plays off the rush and in the OZ with strong passing and skating ability, consistently making those around him better.

Medicine Hat, AB - The Tigers would like to congratulate their 2026 graduating players, Andrew Basha, Josh Van Mulligen, and Ethan Neutens on their respective WHL careers. The Tigers would like to thank all three players for their contributions to the franchise and the city of Medicine Hat.

All three players were part of the 2025 WHL Championship team and all played 100+ games with the Tigers.

Andrew Basha (F)
Hometown: Calgary, AB
WHL Career Stats: 233 GP - 82 G - 152 A - 234 PTS - 132 PIM
WHL Draft: MH (2020) Round: 5 (# 105)
NHL Draft: CGY (2024) Round: 2 (# 41)

Basha spent all five season of his WHL career in the orange and black, and even longer in Southern Alberta, splitting his first season with the Tigers and the SAHA U18 Prep team in the CSSHL. The Calgary, Alberta native experienced it all throughout his career from an 11 win season in 2012-22, to a WHL Championship in 2025. The 6-foot forward was drafted by his hometown team, the Calgary Flames, in the second round of the 2024 NHL Draft. The Flames signed Basha to a three-year entry-level contract on September 29, 2024. During his career high season in 2023-24, Basha recorded 30 goals and 55 assists for 85 points in 63 games. After re-joining the Tigers in January of the 2025-26 season, Basha finished his 20-year-old season with a 1.56 points per game average. He carried on his dominant play into the 2026 WHL Playoffs where he averaged 1.4 points per game. Basha is slated to join the report to the Flames' AHL affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers for the 2026-27 season.

Josh Van Mulligen (D)
Hometown: Medicine Hat, AB
WHL Career Stats: 250 GP - 14 G - 72 A - 86 PTS - 123 PIM
WHL Draft: MH (2020) Round: 2 (# 39)

After a five-season WHL career that spanned exactly 250 games, all in the orange and black, Van Mulligen leaves behind a legacy that almost seemed to be destiny for him. Born and raised in Medicine Hat, Van Mulligen grew up as a season ticket holder for the Tigers, as well as helping out as a stick boy. Just like his fellow 2026 graduating teammate Basha, Van Mulligen was drafted in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft and split his first season between SAHA and the Tigers.

"When we all got drafted here that's what we talked about... winning a championship" said Van Mulligen. "To be able to do that was really special."

The hometown hero accomplished everything he set out to do and brought a WHL championship to his hometown team that he grew up watching. Having completed his WHL career, JVM is taking his talents to the NCAA's Niagara University Purple Eagles for the 2026-27 season.

Ethan Neutens (F)
Hometown: Cochrane, AB
WHL Career Stats: 235 GP - 27 G - 32 A - 59 PTS
WHL Draft: KEL (2020) Round: 9 (# 180)

He may not have started as a Tiger, but Ethan Neutens will forever be remembered for his time in the orange and black. Acquired from the Kelowna Rockets via trade on November 14, 2024, Neutens embraced Tigers hockey from the start. A hard hitting, big hearted player that always left it all on the ice, Neutens was a workhorse for the Tabbies that always brought energy when the team needed it most, including his electric goal against the London Knights in the 2025 Memorial Cup Round Robin. After being dubbed by Medicine Hat Tigers play-by-play announcer Will Bryant as "Everybody's Favourite Tiger" during the 2025-26 season, the nickname quickly stuck. The WHL Champion has committed to the NCAA's University of Alaska-Anchorage for the 2026-27 season.

Medicine Hat, AB - The Tigers needed a win to stay alive in the Eastern Conference Finals as the Raiders came to Co-op Place with a 3-2 series lead on Sunday, May 3rd.

Right out of the gate the Tigers came ready to play. The first period was filled with fast-paced, hard-hitting Tigers hockey.

Jonas Woo capitalized on the Tigers' offensive efforts with his eighth of the playoffs at 13:29. Woo collected the puck in the high slot and fired a perfectly placed wrist shot past Michal Orsulak to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

The Raiders tied the game shortly after with Riley Boychuk's second of the playoffs at 15:43.

A strong first period from the Tigers saw them outshoot their opponents 12-9 and the two beast of the east were tied after one.

1:53 of a man advantage carried over into the second period for the Tigers and Noah Davidson capitalized to restore the Tiger lead. Davidson redirected a shot from Josh Van Mulligen to make it 2-1 Tigers at 1:15.

Prince Albert answered back quickly with back-to-back goals. The first came from Braeden Cootes on the power play at 3:47, and the second came from Daxon Rudolph off of a weird bounce at 5:39.

With his first playoff goal in the orange and black, Luke Cozens tied the game 3-3 at 8:31. Cozens carried the puck down the right side of the zone and fired a shot through Orsulak's five-hole all while muscling off a Raiders defender.

The Raiders had a spring of good luck to cap off the middle frame as they scored three straight in the last half. The first came from Rudolph on the power play at 13:12. Followed by Brayden Dube at 17:59, and Jonah Sivertson at 19:27.

As expected, the Tigers made a huge push in the third period to try and save their season. Kade Stengrim started the climb back early with his seventh goal of the playoffs at 2:20. Yaroslav Bryzgalov fed Stengrim with a seeing eye pass across the ice through a narrow lane to set him up on the power play.

The suspense was turned up to 11 when Van Mulligen brought the Tigers within one with his third of the playoffs. Andrew Basha recorded his third assist of the night as he fed Van Mulligen for a one-timer at 6:59.

Boychuk scored his second of the night at 12:59 to extend the Raiders' lead once again.

A last second goal from Liam Ruck at 19:54 made for a final score of 7-6 as the Raiders held on for the 2026 Eastern Conference Championship.

Jordan Switzer and Carter Casey split the crease for Game 6 with Switzer stopping 10 of 13 and Casey stopping 14 of 18.

Prince Albert, SK - The Tigers took on the Raiders in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Championship on Friday, May 1st in the Art Hauser Centre.

The Raiders had Medicine Hat's number out of the gate as they were the first on the board with Alisher Sarkenov at 5:00.

Despite only posting three shots in the first period, Medicine Hat's push towards the end of the first period showed some promise as they did a great job of pressing on Prince Albert.

Their efforts were rewarded when Jonas Woo found the back of the net for his seventh of the playoffs. Yaroslav Bryzgalov fed Woo from behind the net for a one-timer that tied the game 1-1 at 17:10.

The Tigers had a lot more chances offensively in the second period but couldn't find their way past Michal Orsulak.

Owen Corkish opened the second period scoring early with his fourth of the playoffs at 0:22.

Their best chance of the period for the Tigers came on a break from Markus Ruck after a Raiders defender blew a tire, leaving no one between Ruck and Orsulak. Orsulak snagged a piece of the wrist shot from Ruck and kept the Raiders in the lead.

Prince Albert added two goals to their lead, the first from Ben Harvey at 8:57, and the second from Corkish at 13:36.

The Tigers got started to claw back early in the third period with Ethan Neutens' fifth goal of the playoffs at 1:55. Neutens tipped home a point shot from Cam Parr to bring the Tigers within two.

Medicine Hat and Prince Albert split the third period in the shots department as they each tallied 13.

The Tabbies continued their momentum with Josh Van Mulligen's second goal of the playoffs at 9:19. Van Mulligen one-time a rebound from a Shaeffer Gordon-Carroll shot to bring the Tigers within one with over half of the third period remaining.

As time ticked down the Tigers pulled Carter Casey for the extra attacker with 2:45 remaining in the third. Prince Albert gained possession off of the draw for a quick empty net goal at 17:29.

The Tigers pulled the goalie again but the final nail in the coffin came from their second empty netter as Brayden Dube scored his fifth goal of the playoffs at 18:31.

The Raiders won Game 5 with a score of 6-3 and put the Tigers on the brink of elimination as they head back to Co-op Place for Game 6 on Sunday, May 3rd.

Casey got the nod in net for the Tigers in Game 5 and had an outstanding night stopping 41 of 45 shots on goal.
