Tigers fall in Swift Current
Swift Current, SK – A tough result in Swift Current as the Medicine Hat Tigers drop a 4-1 decision on the road to the Broncos Friday night.
The Tigers would see a tough loss as Centre Oasiz Wiesblatt (Calgary, AB) would go down with an injury leaving the Tigers short staffed and late in the first period. The Tigers would take a delay of game penalty with just over two minutes left in the period and Luke Mistelbacher would beat Tigers goaltender Ethan McCallum (Brandon, MB) to make it 1-0 Broncos and they’d keep that lead going to the 2nd.
Into the second as the Tigers would see the return of Oasiz Wiesblatt to the game but they couldn’t get anything past Reid Dyck as on a Medicine Hat power play as Conor Geekie would get a penalty shot and solve Ethan McCallum to make it 2-0 Swift Current at 10:22. Three minutes later, the Broncos would get their third goal of the night as Mistelbacher would break-in for his second of the night to make it 3-0 Broncos. Medicine Hat would see themselves trail 3-0 to the third period.
The third period would see the Tigers at 12:11 get within two goals as Tomas Mrsic would notch his 17th of the season for a 3-1 Swift Current lead. Andrew Basha (Calgary, AB) & Oasiz Wiesblatt would draw assists on the mark. But the Broncos would get their lead increased again at 14:32 as Josh Filmon would be left open for his 24th of the season to make it 4-1 Broncos. Leading to the eventual final.
With the loss the Tigers drop their record to 33-18-4-2 on the season while going 1/4 on the power play and 1/2 on the penalty kill.
The Tigers will close out the home-at-home with the Broncos Saturday night at Co-op Place. Puck-drop is set for 7 PM. You can get your tickets HERE.
