Tigers drop 6-2 loss to Hitmen
Calgary, AB – Despite opening the scoring, the Medicine Hat Tigers would suffer their third straight defeat against the Calgary Hitmen in a 6-2 loss at the Scotiabank Saddledome Friday night.
The Tigers would open the first period with Shane Smith (Cessford, AB) at 4:23 snapping through his 25th of the season from Tomas Mrsic (Surrey, BC) & Matt Paranych (Edmonton, AB) to make it 1-0 Medicine Hat. The Hitmen would respond with two unanswered goals in the period as Wyatt Pisarcyzk would take a shot from the point hitting a body in front to tie the game at 1-1 at 11:47. Then on a Tiger power play an unfortunate give-away would lead to a Ben Kindel breakaway at 13:49 would beat Tigers starter Ethan McCallum (Brandon, MB). Calgary would outshoot the Tigers 12-8 to take that lead into the second.
The Hitmen would continue to add to their lead as Carson Wetsch would re-direct an arrant shot past McCallum at 4:11 to push the lead to 3-1 Calgary. The Tigers would get some push back as Oasiz Wiesblatt (Calgary, AB) decided to drop the gloves with Carter Yakemchuk. But the Hitmen would get another late in the second on a Hitmen power play as Yakemchuk would fire home his 23rd of the season to put the Calgary lead to three heading to the third by a count of 4-1.
The Tigers would cut into the lead to make it close in the third at 9:15 as Rhett Parsons (Cremona, AB) would make it 4-2 Calgary. From Gavin McKenna (Whitehorse, YT) & Oasiz Wiesblatt would get their 70th points of the season.
Medicine Hat would get a late power play but could not cash in to make it a one goal game and Calgary would respond with a pair of goals 31 seconds apart from David Adasynzski & Oilver Tulk would put things out of reach to make it a 6-2 final for Calgary.
With the loss the Tigers drop to 30-17-3-1.
