T-Birds Trade Sanvido and Johnson To Swift Current
Seattle acquires fourth round pick in 2014 Bantam Draft
KENT, July 31, 2013 — Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced the team has traded right wing Connor Sanvido and center Andrew Johnson to the Swift Current Broncos for a fourth round selection in the 2014 Bantam Draft.
Sanvido had 29 points on 15 goals and 14 assists with 40 penalty minutes in 72 games last season for the T-Birds. In 184 games over three seasons with the T-Birds he had 26 goals and 27 assists for 53 points with 76 penalty minutes. Sanvido was the T-Birds first round selection, 14th overall, in the 2008 Bantam Draft.
The T-Birds acquired Johnson from the Moose Jaw Warriors at the trade deadline last season for a 2013 fourth round bantam pick. Johnson appeared in a combined total of 72 games with the T-Birds and Warriors last year. He had 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points with 60 penalty minutes. In 189 career games in the WHL Johnson has 33 goals and 43 assists for 76 points with 132 penalty minutes.
The T-Birds kick off the 2013-14 Western Hockey League regular season with the Home Opener against the 2013 League Champion Portland Winterhawks on Saturday, September 21, at 7:05 p.m. at the ShoWare Center.
