T-Birds Sink Raiders In Shootout
Barzal and Kolesar have goal and assist each in 3-2 shootout win over Prince Albert
KENT, October 10, 2015 — Keegan Kolesar had a goal and an assist and scored the shootout winner in the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 shootout win over the Prince Albert Raiders Saturday night at ShoWare Center.
The 4,009 at ShoWare Center saw the game go to a shootout after a back-and-forth three-on-three overtime. This was the first home game this season to go to overtime and feature the three-on-three format.
Mathew Barzal had a goal and an assist in the game and scored the first goal in the shootout. Barzal beat Prince Albert goalie Rylan Parenteau around the left pad after a nice stickhandling move got the goalie to go down.
After Barzal scored in the shootout Seattle goalie Taz Burman stopped the Raiders Reid Gardiner with a right pad save.
Jamal Watson was the T-Birds second shooter and he beat Parenteau with a high backhand shot that knocked the goalie’s water bottle off the net.
Simon Stransky, the Raiders second shooter, beat Burman over the blocker to keep his team in the game.
Kolesar won the game for the T-Birds by beating Parenteau with a similar move to Barzal. Kolesar has two goals and five assists in the first four games this season.
The T-Birds travel to Portland to take on the Winterhawks on Sunday at 5pm at the Moda Center.

The Raiders made it a 2-0 game when Gardiner scored at 8:30 of the first. Gardiner forced a turnover along the right boards and then came in on Burman. Gardiner beat Burman through the legs.
Seattle (2-1-1-0) struck back on the power play at 17:42 of the first. Ethan Bear took a slap shot from the high point that Parenteau stopped. The puck rebounded high into the air and Kolesar knocked it into the left corner. Kolesar got the puck and passed it to Barzal along the left board. Barzal skated into the left circle and wired a slap shot past Parenteau for his first goal of the season. This was Barzal’s first game with the T-Birds since returning from the Training Camp of the New York Islanders.
