T-Birds Sign Dillon Hamaliuk
Left wing was sixth round pick in 2015 Bantam Draft
KENT, June 9, 2016 — Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced left wing Dillon Hamaliuk has signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the team.
“Dillon has been making good progress and has shown he will be a player for us in the future. We expect him to compete for a spot on our team at this year’s training camp,” said Farwell. “We are happy to have him committed to our team because his style of play and approach to the game is an honest hard working style and his work ethic will be appreciated by our fans.”
Hamaliuk played the 2015-16 season with the Leduc Oil Kings Midget AAA Team in the Alberta Midget Hockey League (AMHL). In 34 regular season games with the Oil Kings, Hamaliuk had six goals and three assists for nine points with 34 penalty minutes. He scored one goal in seven postseason games.
Hamaliuk is a native of Red Deer, Alberta. He was selected by the T-Birds in the sixth round, 111th overall, in the 2015 Bantam Draft.
By signing a WHL Standard Player Agreement Hamaliuk is guaranteed a WHL Scholarship for every year he plays in the WHL. A player is able to attend any career enhancing institution of his choice, including universities, colleges, technical institutes, trade schools, or any other institution which will help the player achieve his academic and career goals.
For each season played in the WHL, a player receives a one year post-secondary scholarship, which includes: Tuition, Compulsory Fees and Required Textbooks.
