Q&A with Logan Flodell
Logan Flodell just finished is first full season with the T-Birds in 2015-16. Flodell appeared in 42 regular season games with a goals against average of 2.68 and a save percentage of .904. After the extended season due to the playoffs, Logan has taken some time off during his short offseason to chat with us.
Seattle Thunderbirds: Thanks for joining us, Logan. First off, what have you been up to this summer?
Logan Flodell: Thank you for having me. It has been an awesome summer but definitely very busy. I am really enjoying spending time with my family from all provinces.
ST: You played in 42 games last season and it was the most you have played in a season. Overall, how was last season for you?
LF: The games I played this year I thought I gave my team a chance to win and it was an awesome experience making it where we did.

ST: The T-Birds made a very good run at the WHL Championships last season, what do you think the team needs to work on the most during training camp?
LF: Training camp is a time where the boys have to get back together and gel and continue our strong chemistry we had last year.
ST: What are some aspects of your game that you have been working on the most this offseason to prepare for this upcoming season?
LF: I have been working to get my legs and core stronger to help my strength & balance on the ice. I’ve also been working on my hand speed for catching the puck.
ST: Have you been working with T-Birds goalie coach Ian Gordon at all this off-season? If so what have you been working on?
LF: I have seen Gordo this summer in Edmonton working on different parts of my game and tweaking little things here and there getting ready for the season.
ST: Goalie is a very tough position, what is the hardest part about being a goalie, and what is your favorite part?
LF: Being calm is a huge key at being a successful goalie in this league and know how to handle letting goals in because they are going to happen and it’s part of the game.
ST: What are your main goals and objectives for this upcoming season?

LF: Having a strong training camp and continuing that into the season.
ST: You are coming up on your fourth Training Camp with the T-Birds in a few weeks. What’s your mindset as you prepare to start Training Camp?
LF: Being confident going in knowing you have done this before. I also have to show the new young guys what it’s like being a Thunderbird.
ST: Who do you emulate your game after?
LF: Tough question, there are so many good goalies out there but I like to think I play a mix of Bernier who is a former Toronto Maple Leaf and like to incorporate some things Washington Capitals goalie Brayden Holtby does.
ST: As a kid growing up what made you decide to start playing goalie?
LF: My parents had a huge impact on my career, but I decided to make the decision to be a goalie when I was about 8.
ST: What are some fun things that you like to do with your off time away from the ice?
LF: I go to the beach and cabins with my friends. I got into wake boarding a bit this summer.
ST: If you could choose another sport to play in the professional level which sport would you choose, and why?
LF: I would have to choose lacrosse because I’ve played that for about 7 years but decided when I got to the WHL to quit lacrosse and focus on hockey.
ST: If you could pick one country to live in for the rest of your life, where would it be?
LF: I would love to stay in Canada but the winters are far warmer in the states.
ST: That’s all we have for you Logan. Thanks for your time. We will see you at training camp!
LF: Thank you for having me and can’t wait to see all of our T-Birds fans at training camp.
