Thunderbirds Sign Knox Burton
KENT, Wash. – The Seattle Thunderbirds have signed Knox Burton to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. The T-Birds acquired the rights to the Winnipeg native last season from the Prince Albert Raiders.
The 6’3”, 2009 born forward played a year ago with the Pilot Mound Academy U18 Prep team registering 46 points (26g, 20a) in 46 games. Burton attended his first Thunderbirds training camp this past week and he also registered an assist in their 9-2 preseason win last Sunday in Everett.
Burton was part of the package the T-Birds received from Prince Albert in the Braeden Cootes trade last January 7th. He was originally a fifth round pick of the Raiders (111th overall) in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.
“We are very pleased with his development,” said T-Birds assistant general manager Craig Goebel. “He came to camp in great shape. He has all the tools needed to be a successful player for us. His combination of size, skating and skills have all been notable throughout camp and the pre-season.”
The Thunderbirds preseason continues this weekend with a trio of games at the annual preseason tournament at Angel of the Winds arena in Everett.
