T-Birds Pick 10th In 2018 Bantam Draft
Seattle has two second round bantam picks
KENT, April 26, 2018 — The 2018 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft takes place Thursday, May 3, in Red Deer, Alberta. The Bantam Draft starts at 7:30am Seattle time.
The T-Birds have the 10th overall pick in the first round of the draft. The T-Birds have two second round selections, their own at 32nd overall, and the 34th overall pick, acquired from the Medicine Hat Tigers in the Elijah Brown trade.
Seattle does not have a third round pick this year as that pick was part of the Landow Bow trade.
The T-Bird have nine picks in the first 10 rounds of the draft.

Payton Mount was the T-Birds first round selection in the 2017 Bantam Draft. Jake Lee was the T-Birds first round selection in the 2016 Bantam Draft.
Former T-Bird center Mathew Barzal just completed his first season with the New York Islanders and is one of three candidates for the Calder Memorial Trophy given to the NHL Rookie of the Year. Barzal was the first overall selection in the 2012 Bantam Draft
The Bantam Draft allows for the orderly transfer of players to WHL Protected Player Lists (PPL) from the bantam ranks (14-15 year-old players).
The WHL drafts bantam players from Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba and the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
Players from non-North American countries are allowed to be added to rosters via the CHL Import Draft held in June.
Any player that signs a WHL Standard Player Agreement is guaranteed a WHL Scholarship for every year he plays in the WHL. A player is able to attend any career enhancing institution of his choice, including universities, colleges, technical institutes, trade schools, or any other institution which will help the player achieve his academic and career goals. For each season played in the WHL, a player receives a one year post-secondary scholarship, which includes: Tuition, Compulsory Fees and Required Textbooks.
